🟢Trois nouvelles Aires Marines Protégées (AMP), couvrant plus de 1,5 million d’hectares d’écosystèmes marins préservés, vont être créées à Madagascar.

🔹Il s'agit de l’Aire protégée d’Atimo Vata’e, une zone clé pour les baleines à bosse dans l’Androy ; de celle de la Baie d’Antongil, habitat stratégique pour les requins, raies et mammifères marins ; et de l’Aire protégée de Tandavan­driva Nosy-Be, connue pour sa forte concentration de requins-baleines et de dauphins.

🔹La signature de la convention de financement a eu lieu ce 2 septembre dans les locaux de la Direction générale de la Gouvernance environnementale. Ce financement, issu du Fonds pour l’Environnement Mondial (FEM) via le WWF, s’inscrit dans le cadre du Projet GEF6-AMP. Placé sous la tutelle du ministère de l'Environnement et du Développement durable, ce projet est mis en œuvre par une convention tripartite entre le projet, la Fondation pour les Aires Protégées et la Biodiversité de Madagascar (FAPBM), qui agit comme agence fiduciaire, et la Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), gestionnaire des sites.
