“ENHANCING MEASUREMENT SCIENCE EDUCATION THROUGH EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES AND MODERN PEDAGOGIES”

This study, authored by Mare Srbinovska, Marco Faifer, and Milan Dinčić, investigates the current state of Measurement Science education in engineering programs across Europe. The research highlights the gap between traditional teaching approaches and the growing need for exposure to emerging technologies such as Digital Twins, Industry 5.0, and Artificial Intelligence.

Key findings reveal that while students grasp fundamental measurement principles, there is limited integration of active learning, hands-on practice, and industry engagement. The paper offers recommendations for modernizing curricula to better prepare students for the rapidly evolving engineering workforce.

Horizons is proud to showcase research that drives innovation in engineering education and promotes the adoption of modern pedagogies and technologies.

📢 New Publication Announcement

We are pleased to share the publication of the research article “Allpass-Based Dual-Notch Filter with Closely Spaced Notch Frequencies” in Horizons - International Scientific Journal.

🔍 About the article
This paper presents a novel method for designing a digital filter with two closely spaced notch frequencies, implemented through a parallel connection of two all-pass filters. By introducing a pure delay as one of the all-pass sections, the proposed design achieves an approximately linear phase response, while maintaining flexibility in phase shaping. Compared to conventional approaches with piecewise-constant phase, this method enables higher filter orders to significantly reduce approximation errors.

📄The Wagner Group illustrates the rise of quasi-state armed actors that blur the line between state and non-state forces. Operating globally, it challenges traditional international humanitarian law frameworks. This article examines Wagner’s legal status, including combatant classification, state responsibility, and accountability for violations, showing how its ties to the Russian Federation create a legally ambiguous profile. The study calls for clearer IHL rules for state-linked private military actors and proposes measures to strengthen oversight and enforcement.
