LUCKY BAY 🌞🦘🌊

One of Australia’s most famous beaches, known for its kangaroos and crystal-clear water. Was it beautiful? Heck yes… but honestly, I think there are even nicer beaches around Cape Le Grand (and with way less people) 🌺 Maybe my opinion would’ve changed if we’d seen the kangaroos on the beach… but they were definitely in hiding 👀

We ended up visiting twice and camping here once. No beach kangas, but lucky enough to have them hop right through our camp ⛺️

Last two photos captured at Frenchman’s Peak which is 10ish mins down the road. An incredible short hike with 360 views 🤌🏽

A full Albany photo dump 🌞

We had two full weeks to visit Denmark and Albany, and it honestly wasn’t enough time.. we only just scratched the surface.

We did however get to visit:

DENMARK (already shared)
⛺️ Parry Beach Campground (20)
🌲 Valley of the Giants
🌊 Elephant Rocks
⚽️ Denmark Soccer-Golf (19)
🍷 Monkey Rock Winery

ALBANY
⛺️ East Bay Campground (1-4)
🌊 Frenchman’s Peak (5)
⛰️ Bald Head and Misery Beach (6-7)
🐋 Albany’s Historic Whaling Station (8)
🌊 Albany Wind Farm (9-13)
🪨 Castle Rock and Granite Skywalk (14-16)
🍺 Beerfarm place (17)
⚔️ Albany WWI History Museum (18)
🌊 The Gap and Natural Bridge (posted the other day)

We originally didn’t have the wind farm on our itinerary, but went to get a patch for the Troopy (1st pic) from the visitors centre and got talking to a lovely lady. She said the best spot to watch the sunset was the wind farm, and funny enough when we arrived I was blown away! We walked the coastal path that passes through the wind farm and you see these cliffs and the bluest water. Guess it does pay to visit the visitors centre for tips!

How we started travelling Australia 🏕️🚐🇦🇺

The other day a friend who just moved here said how he wanted to get a 4WD to start travelling Aus. We were talking budget, gear, what he needed and it got me thinking.. we started with absolute F*k all.

So here’s my 10 cents on it… YOU DO NOT NEED ALL THE GEAR TO START 🙌🏽

When we first moved to QLD all we had was our Holden Cruze. Living in Brisbane.. it made sense to stay overnight when visiting places like Gold Coast, Sunny Coast ect, but accom got expensive. That’s when we bought the swag!

Now, it was a tight ass fit. The whole backseat was taken by the swag, boot was an esky and some chairs and that was it 😝 but we bloody loved it! This got the ball rolling.. and we explored every second weekend like this!

But it got to a point where we had seen a lot of the attractions accessible with a 2WD, and we were curious about all the islands and beach camping, so we decided to upgrade.

Next was buying our first ever 4WD, our Prado! It was our pride and joy, even if it cost us like 8k in mechanical visits haha. Now we had access to all the 4WD tracks and incredible beach camping. We started to tick off the islands (Fraser, Moreton ect) and we fell in love! Still repping the swag, we started to build our camping gear. Everything was always kings, kmart.. anything that would save us a buck and honestly.. it worked a treat!!

We then sold everything to go overseas, but when we came back we had a dilemma. Did we want a van or a 4wd? Vanlife is a little more spacious and comfortable in the winter, but we loved getting off the beaten track. That’s when we settled for the troopy which has loads of room inside. Did it cost us some coin? Hell yeah 😅 but we had done YEARS with the bare minimum and we felt like it was time to get something a little most costly and comfortable as we’re living in it full-time. But I digress..

The main point is to encourage anyone I can to get out there and see our beautiful country with what you got 🏕️ We see so many insane rigs with nice gear online, but you don’t need it!!! All you need is good company, music, insane sunset and a couple of beers…

📍 Elephant Rocks and Greens Pool

Unfortunately it was a wee bit chilly so no jumping in from rocks, and my drone was playing silly buggers so it’s the best shot I got 🥲

But still, an incredible place to go see. Would LOOOVE to come here during the summer and spend a full day relaxing here with a few bevvys 🍻
