😭 Rohingya Genocide Remembrance Day
25 August 2025
Today marks 8 years since the horrors that forever changed our lives.

On this day in 2017, the Rohingya people were subjected to one of the darkest chapters in modern history. We were attacked not for what we had done, but simply for who we are.

The Myanmar military launched a brutal and systematic campaign against our people. Hundreds of innocent children were burned alive. Our mothers and sisters were r***d. Our fathers, brothers, and neighbors were slaughtered without mercy. Entire villages were turned to ashes. What we experienced was not just violence. It was genocide.

Today, we remember the victims. We carry the pain of every mother who lost her child, every child who saw their home destroyed, and every family torn apart by hatred and cruelty. We honor their memory and their resilience.

For 8 long years, we have lived in exile, stateless, displaced, and denied our basic rights. But we have not lost our hope. We have not lost our voice. Our spirit remains strong.

To those we lost, you are not forgotten.
✊ To those still fighting, you are not alone.
🌍 To the world, justice delayed is justice denied. Act now.

We remember. We grieve. We demand justice.

These images reflects a powerful and heartbreaking truth about one of the most tragic events of our time—the Rohingya Genocide, which began on 25th August 2017 and has left deep scars on humanity. On that day, brutal and systematic violence was unleashed against the Rohingya people in Rakhine State, Myanmar, resulting in mass killings, widespread sexual violence, destruction of villages, and the forced displacement of hundreds of thousands of innocent men, women, and children. Entire families were torn apart, many lost their loved ones in the most horrific ways, and those who survived were forced to flee across the border, seeking refuge in overcrowded camps where they continue to live in conditions of uncertainty and suffering. The bloodstains on the map of Myanmar in the image symbolize the cruelty and injustice that has stained the conscience of the world, while the tearful face of a Rohingya girl represents the silent cries of millions who still yearn for justice, recognition, and the right to live with dignity. The 25th of August is not only a date of tragedy but also a day of remembrance, reflection, and resistance—a reminder that the world must not remain silent in the face of genocide. As we observe the 8th anniversary in 2025, this Remembrance Day calls upon the international community, human rights defenders, and people of conscience everywhere to stand with the Rohingya, to acknowledge their suffering, and to continue demanding accountability for the crimes committed against them. It is a day to honor the memories of those who perished, to express solidarity with those who survived, and to reaffirm our shared responsibility to ensure that the Rohingya people are not forgotten and that their rights to justice, safety, and homeland are ultimately restored. The Rohingya Genocide Remembrance Day is therefore not just a commemoration of the past, but a living plea for action, a warning to humanity about the dangers of hatred and dehumanization, and a commitment to building a future where no community has to endure such unspeakable pain again.
