Rohingya killed and injured in landmine explosion in Maungdaw

A young Rohingya was killed and four other Rohingya were seriously injured in a landmine explosion in Maungdaw Township, Arakan State, Myanmar.
On the morning of February 10, a landmine explosion occurred in Gunnah Hamlet in Shwe Jar Village Tract, Maungdaw, killing a young Rohingya and injuring four others.
The deceased Rohingya has been identified as Ferus Khan, a resident of Gunnah Hamlet in Shwe Jar Village, Maungdaw.
The injured are Mohammad Noor (23 years old), Mohammad Junaid (30 years old), Mohammad Hossain (18 years old) and Akhtar Ahmed.
According to reports, Ferus Khan was having coffee at a shop inside the village when the landmine exploded. The explosion seriously injured him, shattering his hip and severing both his arms, causing his death on the spot.
The explosion occurred at approximately 10 am on February 10, killing one young Rohingya from Gunnah Hamlet in Shwe Jar village tract, Maungdaw and seriously injuring four others.
In addition, five Rohingya were seriously injured in several landmine explosions on different days in Gunnah Hamlet in Shwe Jar village tract last week.
According to a local source, “Since December 8, 2024, the genocidal military junta of Myanmar has been absent, and Maungdaw is now completely under the control of the terrorist Arakan Army (AA). The terrorist Arakan Army (AA) has deliberately planted numerous landmines in several parts of Maungdaw and especially in the areas around Roah. Civilians are blaming others for the incident.”
