Myanmar starts confirming Rohingyas eligible for return with the first list of 180,000 refugees

Bangkok, Thailand, April 4: Myanmar authorities have confirmed to Bangladesh that out of a list of 800,000 Rohingyas sheltered in Bangladesh, they have identified 180,000 Rohingyas eligible for return to Myanmar.

The original list was provided by Bangladesh in six batches during 2018-20.

The final verification of another 70,000 Rohingyas is pending additional scrutiny of their photographs and names.

This was disclosed on Friday to Dr. Khalilur Rahman, High Representative of the Chief Adviser of Bangladesh, by U Than Shew, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Myanmar, at a meeting on the sidelines of the 6th BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok.

This is the first such confirmed list that constitutes a major step toward the longstanding resolution of the Rohingya crisis.

The Myanmar mint also confirmed that the verification of the remaining 550,000 Rohingyas on the original list will be undertaken on an expeditious basis.

During the meeting the High Representative expressed his condolences for the earthquake victims of Myanmar and said Bangladesh was ready to send further humanitarian support for the disaster-stricken people.

🔴 The terrorist Arakan Army is looting daily from Rohingya shops in Pyin Phew village of North Mangdu in Arakan. The terrorists threaten to humiliate and kill the shopkeepers if they don't pay.

A Rohingya shopkeeper said,
"Terrorist Arakan Army members take almost everything from my shop. Some give money, some don't. If I ask for money, they get angry, abuse, even threaten that I won't get any money! Many terrorists come into the shop drunk, take whatever they want, and threaten to kill me if I ask for money!"

🔴 Not only this, the terrorist Arakan Army is forcing more than 50 Rohingyas to do their work every month from the villages of Kyaw Ladkar, Mazalagi, Hla Baujar and Paong Jar in Mangdu. Since February 8, around 100 Rohingya have been summoned and forced to work every day. The terrorists are forcing the Rohingyas to clean the area, dig holes and repair roads.

Due to this, the Rohingya Muslims in Maungdu are now suffering from money and food crisis. This incident proves that the terrorist Arakan Army is not only suppressing the Rohingyas but also destroying their livelihood. On the one hand, they want to wipe out the existence of traders by looting their wealth, on the other by exploiting forced labour.

Rohingya killed and injured in landmine explosion in Maungdaw

A young Rohingya was killed and four other Rohingya were seriously injured in a landmine explosion in Maungdaw Township, Arakan State, Myanmar.

On the morning of February 10, a landmine explosion occurred in Gunnah Hamlet in Shwe Jar Village Tract, Maungdaw, killing a young Rohingya and injuring four others.

The deceased Rohingya has been identified as Ferus Khan, a resident of Gunnah Hamlet in Shwe Jar Village, Maungdaw.

The injured are Mohammad Noor (23 years old), Mohammad Junaid (30 years old), Mohammad Hossain (18 years old) and Akhtar Ahmed.

According to reports, Ferus Khan was having coffee at a shop inside the village when the landmine exploded. The explosion seriously injured him, shattering his hip and severing both his arms, causing his death on the spot.

The explosion occurred at approximately 10 am on February 10, killing one young Rohingya from Gunnah Hamlet in Shwe Jar village tract, Maungdaw and seriously injuring four others.

In addition, five Rohingya were seriously injured in several landmine explosions on different days in Gunnah Hamlet in Shwe Jar village tract last week.

According to a local source, “Since December 8, 2024, the genocidal military junta of Myanmar has been absent, and Maungdaw is now completely under the control of the terrorist Arakan Army (AA). The terrorist Arakan Army (AA) has deliberately planted numerous landmines in several parts of Maungdaw and especially in the areas around Roah. Civilians are blaming others for the incident.”

ရိုဟင်ဂျာတွေအတွက် ရေရှည်တည်တံ့တဲ့ နေရပ်ပြန်နိုင်ရေး ဖြစ်မလာနိုင်သေးဘူးလို့ ရိုဟင်ဂျာတွေ ပြန်လည်လက်ခံမယ့် စစ်ကောင်စီရဲ့အစီအစဉ်နဲ့ပတ်သက်လို့ ကုလသမဂ္ဂဒုက္ခသည်များဆိုင်ရာမဟာမင်းကြီးရုံး UNHCR က မတ်လ ၂၀ ရက်နေ့မှာ ထုတ်ပြန်ထားပါတယ်။

စစ်ကောင်စီရဲ့ရခိုင်ပြည်နယ်လူဝင်မှုကြီးကြပ်ရေးဝန်ကြီး ဦးမျိုးအောင် ဦးဆောင်တဲ့ အဖွဲ့ဝင် ၁၇ ဦးဟာ ပြီးခဲ့တဲ့တစ်ပတ်က ဘင်္ဂလားဒေ့ရှ်နိုင်ငံကို သွားပြီး ဒုက္ခသည်တွေနဲ့ တွေ့ဆုံခဲ့ပါတယ်။

အဲဒီခရီးစဉ်မတိုင်ခင်က အိန္ဒိယ၊ တရုတ်၊ ဘင်္ဂလားဒေ့ရှ်အပါအဝင် ရှစ်နိုင်ငံက သံအမတ် ၁၁ ဦးကို စစ်ကောင်စီက မြန်မာ-ဘင်္ဂလားဒေ့ရှ်နယ်စပ် မောင်တောမြို့နယ်မှာ နေရပ်ပြန်လာမယ့် ရိုဟင်ဂျာတွေကို ပြန်လည်နေရာချထားမယ့်နေရာတွေကို ပြသခဲ့ပါတယ်။

ဘင်္ဂလားဒေ့ရှ်က ဒုက္ခသည်စခန်းတွေမှာ ခိုလှုံနေကြရတဲ့ ရိုဟင်ဂျာတွေကတော့ နိုင်ငံသားဖြစ်ခွင့်၊ လွတ်လပ်စွာသွားလာခွင့်နဲ့ သူတို့ရဲ့ မူလနေရာတွေမှာ ပြန်လည်နေထိုင်ခွင့်ရဖို့ အဓိကတောင်းဆိုထားကြပါတယ်။
