SAC shelling kills at least 29 civilians

SAC’s shelling has killed at least 29 and wounded 56 civilians in Laiza on Monday at around midnight, KIO officials said.

At least 13 children and several IDPs who had fled homes and taken refuge in Mung Lai Hket IDP Camp were among those killed in the attack. Initial reports said 56 civilians were taken to the Laiza hospital. The death toll is expected to rise further as rescuers scramble to remove bodies from rubble and many victims still going through critical conditions.

SAC forces indiscriminately fired several artillery rounds beginning 11 pm on Mung Lai Hkyet IDP camp and residential area in Laiza killing several people that I know and some are still buried in the rubble, said a Laiza resident.

Since early this month, SAC stepped up its attacks against KIA positions around Laiza area. On Oct 2-3, SAC troops stationed at Kagam Bum and Hka Ya Bum fired several rounds of 105 mm, 120mm, 122 mm and 81 mm mortors on KIA positions near Laiza. 2 fighter jets bombed KIA positions at Lai Lum Awng Ja and Bum Noi Bum on Oct 4.

A 9-year-old boy killed and his mother injured by SAC’s artillery fire

A woman and her 9-year-old son were hit by artillery fire by SAC troops based at Laukai on Sept 27 at 10 p.m.

Labang Roi and her 9-year-old son Ma B**g were staying inside their home in Man Hka village in Monkoe township when a shell hit their house injuring both mother and son. Ma B**g later died after sustaining injuries in the head and the body by the shrapnel. 9-year-old Ma B**g is Labang Roi and Slg. Tang Gun’s only son of four children.

KIA and SAC troops exchange mortar fires, more troops arrive in Kachin region

KIA artillery units from Kang Bum fired multiple rounds of 60 mm and 100 mm mortars on two SAC helicopters transporting soldiers and military hardwares at Na Hpaw on Sept 10 at 2:14 p.m. SAC troops based at Na Hpaw returned fire with 7 rounds of 81 mm mortars.

On Sept 9, two SAC helicopters transported soldiers and military equipment from Myitkyina to Hpakant in two sorties beginning 2:30 p.m.

A double decker ship carrying about 200 SAC soldiers was seen traveling from Htee Jaik on Irrawaddy river on Sept 10 at 6 p.m, reported a KLN source.

Similarly on Sept 8, two ships with full of SAC troops and military equipment was seen traveling from Tagaung, Sagaing Division towards Kachin State at around 10:30 a.m.

In Danai township, KIA’s 45th Battalion troops attacked SAC troops from Danai Regional Command at Lido-Dai Hpa junction near Tarung village on Sept 10 at 2:35 p.m.

In Bhamo, six Y-8 transport aircrafts with full of SAC troops and military equipment have arrived at Bhamo airport on Sept 7.

KIA’s 45th Battalion troops launched an attack on about 80 SAC soldiers from Danai Regional Command at Brang Bram Hka on Sept 8 at 10:30 a.m. SAC soldiers were traveling from Shin Lung village when they encountered KIA troops. KIA sources said at least 3 SAC soldiers were killed by the attack.

KIA troops attack SAC’s 45th LIB troops at Mahkaw Hkyet

KIA’s 36th Battalion troops attacked SAC’s 45th LIB troops at Mahkaw Hkyet, located between Nam Tau and Kawng Hka in Muse township, on Aug 27 at 12:35 p.m. KIA sources said about 50 SAC soldiers from 45th LIB were traveling from Shwi Buk Kawng Hka when KIA troops attacked them at Mahkaw Hkyet. At least 4 SAC soldiers were injured during the attack, reported KIA sources.

On the same day, about 150 SAC soldiers from 99th LID have arrived at a school in Hpau Jung Pa and about 40 SAC soldiers have arrived in Kawng Dap village.

Battles continue between MNDAA’s 29th Battalion troops and about 200 soldiers from SAC’s 99th LID near Nawng Hpai village on Aug 27 at 3:40 p.m. During the battle, SAC troops based at Hpawng Seng fired multiple mortar rounds on MNDAA positions.

KIA’s 7th Battalion troops attack SAC’s 138th LIB base

KIA’s 7th Battalion troops launched an attack on SAC’s 138th LIB base at Tan Ja village, located between Lung Sha Yang and Wa Dat Ga in Putao township, on Aug 26 at 4 p.m. According to KIA sources, about 10 SAC soldiers were injured or killed during an hour long fight.

On the same day, PDF forces attacked SAC’s 4-truck convoy traveling from Shwe Bo at Tayet Kone in Kawlin township at 4 p.m. PDF sources said at least 20 SAC soldiers were injured by the attack.

In Momauk township, SAC troops currently based at Shang Htung Bum fired 2 rounds of 81 mm mortars on KIA 30th Battalion’s Bum Len Post on Aug 25 at 3:15 p.m.

SAC soldiers quartered in religious compounds

About 70 soldiers from SAC’s 320th LIR based at Myo Tit have arrived and quartered in Kung Law Kachin Baptist Church compound on July 20.

Last week in Hpakant township, SAC troops occupied Kachin Baptist Church’s prayer hill at Hkum Tsai Zup and about 40 SAC soldiers occupied Seng Hpra Kachin Baptist Church’s prayer mountain.

In northern Shan State, about 100 SAC soldiers from 99th LID arrived and quartered at Man Nyu village's monastery in Muse township on July 18. Those 99th LID soldiers were stationed at Maw Tawng village's monastery the day before.

SAC soldiers used 4 civilian vans equipped for transporting deceased persons to travel between Kutkai and 105 Mile on July 18.
