“Cinephony” - Cinema Symphony is a series of Burmese film screenings and live music events in Yangon hosted by 3-ACT. Ranging from unique themes and directions that are critical of the current times of Myanmar, “Cinephony” consists of pop-up film screenings supported with live music acts that compliments the concepts of the films. It aims to bridge the local film and music communities to address key issues and stories as well as highlighting the importance of sound in film.

Cinephony - Cinema Symphony သည် 3-ACT က စီးစဉ်ကျင်းပသွားမည့် (မည်သူမဆိုလာရောက် ကြည့်ရှုနားဆင်နိုင်သော) မြန်မာ့ရုပ်ရှင်ဇာတ်လမ်းများပြသခြင်းနှင့် ဂီတဖျော်ဖြေပွဲစဉ်များဖြစ်ပါသည်။ မြန်မာနိုင်ငံ၏ လက်ရှိအခြေအနေကို ထင်ဟပ်နိုင်သည့် ထူးခြားသော ပဓာနအကြောင်းအရာတစ်ရပ်ကို ဦးတည်ကာ၊ ယင်းနှင့် သက်ဆိုင်သည့် မြန်မာဇာတ်လမ်းတိုများကို ပြသခြင်း၊ ယင်းအကြောင်းအရာကို ထင်ဟပ်သည့် ဂီတတီးခတ်ဖျော်ဖြေမှုများကို ပူးပေါင်းတင်ဆက်မည်ဖြစ်ပါသည်။ ရုပ်ရှင်ဖန်တီးရာတွင် အသံ၏အရေးပါမှုကိုမြင်သာစေရန်နှင့် ရုပ်ရှင်၊ဂီတအသိုင်းအဝိုင်းများကြားတွင် ပူးပေါင်းဖန်တီးမှုများတိုးတက်လာရန် ရည်ရွယ်ရင်းများရှိပါသည်။

For the 1st Edition of Cinephony, 3-ACT collaborated with Myanmar Jazz Club - MJC for "Voices from the Margins", which will be held at the Institut Francais de Birmanie as part of the Human Rights day event on December 14th. "Voices from the Margins", which refers to the perspectives and experiences of individuals or groups who are often marginalized or overlooked in society. This can include people from diverse backgrounds, such as racial or ethnic minorities, LGBTQ+ communities, people with disabilities, and others who may not have a prominent platform to share their stories. Celebrating these voices involve acknowledging their culture, valuing their contributions, and creating space for their narratives to be heard and recognized. In this section, we would like to particularly highlight different ethnic voices and diverse nationalities in Myanmar, that are not put into the forefront of mainstream media or cinema in the country.

Pairing with these important films, “Myanmar Contemporary Ensemble” and "Myanmar Jazz Club" will perform fusion music of traditional music, ethnic folk songs and contemporary Jazz to further raise the voices of Myanmar’s diverse culture.

Ivan Horák က Crezh က Sound Designer တစ်ယောက်ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ Field Sound recording ‌နဲ့ Sound Design အများကြီးလုပ်ခဲ့တဲ့အတွေ့အကြုံရှိပြီးတော့ မြန်မာနိုင်ငံမှာလည်း Yangon Film School မှာ sound design နဲ့ပက်သက်ပြီး နည်းပြအနေနဲ့ သင်တန်းပို့ချပေးခဲ့တဲ့ အကြုံအတွေ့အများကြီးလည်းရှိပါတယ်။

လာမယ့် 26 ရက်နေ့မှ Ivan ကနေပြီး Yangon Film School မှာ သူ့လုပ်ခဲ့တဲ့ sound design အတွေ့အကြုံတွေကို လုပ်ခဲ့ဖူးတဲ့ ရုပ်ရှင်တွေကနေ တဆင့် sharing လုပ်ပေးသွားမှာဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ Sound Designer တစ်ဦးဘယ်လိုအလုပ်လုပ်တဲ့၊ sound design မှာပါ၀င်တဲ့ အသံတွေကို အနုပညာမြောက်စွာဘယ်လိုဖန်းတီးပြုလုပ်ရတယ်ဆိုတဲ့ အတွေ့အကြုံတွေကို master class အနေနဲ့ ပြုလုပ်သွားမှာပါ။

Cinephony Edition #0 is an Introduction to Cinephony program that will highlight and open the dialogue of the importance of Sound design and music in film.

In this event, it will feature panel discussions between practicing Burmese sound designers Kyaw Ko Ko, Eaiddhi, Itö, Lynn Nandar Htoo and Mg Thar Nge. It will also feature screenings of the films selected by the sound designers.

Purin short film camp ဟာ filmmaker တွေအတွက် နိုင်ငံခြားပွဲတော်တွေကိုသွားတဲ့အခါမှာ လိုအပ်တဲ့ training ground ဖြစ်သလို နောက်ဆုံး ကိုယ်ရိုက်ချင်တဲ့ ပရောဂျက်ကိုတင်ပြပြီးတဲ့အခါမှာလဲ အလားအလာအရှိဆုံး ပရောဂျက် ၄ ခုကို 5000 usd grant ချီးမြင့်သွားမှာပဲဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

Short Film Camp 2024 Submissions Now Open!
Short Film Camp is an intensive workshop for emerging directors and producers from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand. During the program, the participants will work with mentors to develop their writing, directing, and producing skills. The program will culminate in a final pitch of their short film projects.
Four winners of the final pitch will receive funding of 5,000 USD and a post-production package at White Light Post and Kantana Sound Studio to produce their short films. Two runner-ups will receive complimentary invitations to Platform Busan at Busan International Film Festival 2025.
Short Film Camp 2024 will take place in Bangkok, Thailand from December 11-20, 2024. It is kindly supported by White Light Post, Kantana Sound Studio, Platform Busan, and Creative Economy Agency (Public Organization) or CEA for the venue at Thailand Creative & Design Center (TCDC Bangkok).
Eligibility
1. Applicants must be a team of director and producer, who are citizens of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar or Thailand, or belong to a stateless community residing in these countries.
2. Both team members must be aged 35 or under (born in 1989, or after).
3. Applicants must be able to attend the full program in person. The program will be conducted in English.
4. The director must have made at least one short film, but not yet directed a feature film or series before. The producer must not have produced a feature film or series before.
5. Producers may apply with multiple projects, while directors may only apply with one project.
6. If you are an SFC alumni, you can only apply in a different position. A previous director can only apply as a producer, and a previous producer can only apply as a director.
7. We do not accept submissions that are student thesis projects.
8. We do not accept documentary and animation projects.
The program will provide travel costs and hotel accommodation for all participants to and from their Southeast Asian country. You can download the regulations and apply here
