Especially thanks to the Government of Bangladesh for managing this situation. Many poor Rohingya families cannot afford the expenses of marriage because of the dowry system. As a result, many Rohingya sisters prepare to travel to Malaysia in hopes of getting married.

Unfortunately, during these dangerous journeys by boat, some of our Rohingya brothers and sisters have lost their lives at sea. Their suffering shows how deeply poverty and hopelessness have affected our community. They take such risky paths only to seek a better life, but many never reach their destination.
