80 Myanmar workers laid off at Chonburi factory

June 26, 2025

One hundred and eighty Myanmar workers were recently made redundant from a power cable factory in Thailand’s Chonburi Province, according to Thai-based labor activists Worker Assistance Group (WAG).

The workers had been employed there for a minimum of two to eight years but were told by their employer that the factory will close in August. They have sought assistance from WAG to get their remaining salaries and appropriate compensation.

NCA signatories gather for junta 'Peace Forum'

June 26, 2025

The Myanmar junta's "Peace Forum" entered its second day in Naypyitaw on Thursday, with two sides holding talks behind closed doors about the country's situation and the upcoming December election, according to junta-affiliated media.

The June 25-27 forum, organized by the junta’s National Solidarity and Peace Negotiation Committee (NSPNC), has drawn representatives from China, India, Thailand, and Russia. In attendance are representatives from ethnic armed groups that have signed the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement, as well as the United Wa State Army, the National Democratic Alliance Army, the Shan State Progress Party, political parties that have registered for junta’s poll, and civil society organizations. Addressing ‘Peace Forum’, junta boss warns of foreign influence

June 26, 2025

Myanmar junta boss Min Aung Hlaing emphasized that Myanmar's peace efforts must be free from foreign interference and domestic disruptions, as he addressed the regime-organized “Peace Forum”, which kicked off on Wednesday.

The June 25-27 forum is being attended by representatives from China, India, Thailand and Russia and is organized by the junta’s National Solidarity and Peace Negotiation Committee (NSPNC). Also attending the forum are representatives from ethnic armed organizations that have signed the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement, political parties and civil society organizations.

While acknowledging the importance of maintaining harmonious ties with other countries, the junta boss warned against becoming influenced or dominated by them—a statement that contradicts the reality in northern Shan, where China is blatantly applying pressure on ethnic armed organizations to stop fighting the regime.

Min Aung Hlaing reaffirmed that the peace process should continue under the framework of the military-drafted 2008 Constitution and the NCA. The coup-maker urged ethnic armed groups to abandon armed struggle, which he says is against democratic principles. Instead, he urged them to form political parties and participate in politics through dialogue.

He also stressed that the success of the upcoming election planned for December will depend on the country’s stability and progress toward peace.

Miners killed as junta bombs KNDF-controlled Mawchi town

June 26, 2025

At least seven miners were killed when the junta bombed Mawchi town in Karenni (Kayah) State on Wednesday morning following fierce clashes with the Karenni Nationalities Defence Force (KNDF). Known for its centuries-old tin and tungsten mines, the town is controlled by the KNDF. The bombs hit a mining area, tearing at least seven miners apart, according to witnesses. The death toll is expected to climb. A previous junta attack in May killed two civilians and wounded three others.

June 26, 2025

A Myanmar junta airstrike targeted Mandalay Region’s Mogoke town controlled by the ethnic Ta’ang National Liberation Army at around 11.30 p.m. on Wednesday, leaving two locals with leg injuries. Bombs hit a monastery in eastern Mogoke, damaging its dining hall and a nearby house, according to a resident. Gunfire has been heard throughout the night, she said.
