Job Overview
Legal Counsel is acts as a general lawyer, who handles all legal matters within the company and work with management and employees within their business to ensure laws are being kept.
You will collaborate with business leaders and as well as with supporting areas (Finance, IT & People) advising on legal risks, business strategies and other issues related to the Company’s businesses. You will be required to work independently as well as part of various teams.
1. Main Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities will cover a variety of legal issues in Oway. Amongst others, the following responsibilities apply to this position:
Provide legal advice, support, and assist various functions of the company and its key subsidiaries, including drafting and review of legal agreements and documents (e.g., power of attorneys) to ensure that (i) their businesses will be conducted in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, and (ii) contractual arrangements will be enforceable as intended and not be enforced against them in an adverse way.
Prepare, review, and update the contracts with suppliers both English and Myanmar Language from time to time.
Review and advise on employment contracts.
Identify legal risks that are expected to be critical to the business of the company and its subsidiaries and provide the basic legal risk assessment report, including action plans to ensure a timely risk management.
Conduct legal analysis for litigation cases and provide recommendations how to manage litigations to maximize strategies and solutions for the company’s benefits.
Work closely with relevant functions in relations to lawsuit e.g. Travel Law, Regulatory in relation to Travel Law-related Lawsuits to ensure efficient legal issue management/litigation for the Company’s and its subsidiaries’ best interest.
Researching and performing analysis on changes or on issuance of new legislation, rules, and regulations regarding general law applicable to the company and its key subsidiaries’ business.
Assist management in identifying, monitoring, reporting, and reducing risks relating to corruption and facilitation payments to ensure that such risks are effectively managed and closed.
Support for use cases of courts and Police stations.
Work with and support outside legal counsel on a need basis.
2.Education/Qualification/Skills Requirements
Any graduate with Diploma in Business law (or) LL.B and other qualifications or LL.M
Minimum 3-5 years working experience in related field
Proven drafting skills
Strong legal experience in corporate and commercial matters.
Experience on managing external legal counsels.
Strong written and oral communication skills in both Myanmar & English
