In 2024, Ban Ki-moon was awarded Mongolia’s highest state decoration, the Order of Chinggis Khaan, in recognition of his global leadership and support for multilateralism.

Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, the President of Mongolia, and Ban Ki-moon, the eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations, planted a memorial tree together in the Peacekeepers’ Grove at the National Park, as part of Mongolia’s “Billion Trees” national movement.
