Stillness Echoes

"Placid, fragile, and inconspicuous, plants flourish in their own way, a world apart from our radar."

Following Rusty Fox's last photobook, Nocturnal (2023), Stillness Echoes is both a continuation and an alternation. The handmade risography photobook in A3 format invites readers to immerse themselves in the movements and echoes of urban nature. The almost graphic yet poetic images, with details presented in the grainy softness of risography, reveal layers of emotion and a murmur-like flow conveyed through the photographs.

繼 Rusty Fox 的上一本攝影集《夜行者》（2023 年）之後，《靜謐回響》既是延續，也是交替。這本 A3 格式的手工孔版攝影書，讓讀者沉浸在城市中大自然的律動與迴響之中。書中幾乎圖形化卻又充滿詩意的圖像，細節呈現孔版印刷所帶來的柔和顆粒感，展現了照片的豐富層次和低語般的情感流動。

To the moon…and back (2019–2023)

A story about an adventure to the moon and back. This phrase is often used to describe something important, much like the distance to the moon and back. Yet, upon arrival, distance grows out of closeness. The original artwork was made with collage and mono-printing.

一個關於去月球遊玩的故事。地球往返月球的距離好遠好遠，遠到可以用它來形容重要的東西。抵達後很近很近，月亮的陰晴圓缺卻不適合人類居住，距離再次變得很遠很遠。原畫媒材為拼貼與單版版畫。

Congratulations to our author Rusty Fox whose series “Nocturnal” has passed the preliminary screening of YOUNG PORTFOLIO held by Kiyosato Museum of Photographic Arts.
“Nocturnal” unveils a hidden world in the city. Despite the subjects being plants, the protruded stems and crooked branches elongate into seemingly dancing forms, composing an enigmatic symphony that celebrates the lust of life. The photobook is an invitation to the parallel but alternative world, starting with the texture of the paper, the imagery narrative, and ultimately the whole reading experience, as if reading a mysterious tale from a vintage novel.

The book making process of Rusty Fox’s “Nocturnal” is now displaying at the exhibition “做書「碌士」A—Z：Notes On Book Making”, together with Alan Ieon’s “Enclosed Landscape” (published by brownie publishing).

The exhibition takes place at Pin-to Livro & Musica 1F until July 30. ✨What a good opportunity to look closer into the materials and thinking processes behind the projects if you enjoy the photo books. 😉
