The first concrete ideas towards a publication for the English Department at the University of Malta reach back to 2007. Students needed a place to write and be read outside a classroom setting, hence the establishment of TEXT! The project was initiated in print form in August 2009, then moved onto an online platform in March 2010 for the second edition. In short, this journal offers a broader sen

se of knowledge and opportunity to both its readers and contributors. Learn, breathe new ideas and take advantage of the opportunity to be published and read online! We accept works of :

- All works submitted are not to exceed the 5,000 word mark.

TEXT Photo Competition Deadline Update:

The Photo Competition Deadline from the previous post has been extended to the 10th of April of 2026.

The writing should draw inspiration from a selected photograph, establishing a clear link between the image and the accompanying text. Please attach the photo of choice.

Prose has a 2000-word limit, while poetry is capped at 50 lines, but shorter works are welcome.

DESA and TEXT present yet another writing competition - this time related to photos!

The instructions are simple; find a photo that speaks to you, and write about it!

The writing should draw inspiration from a selected photograph, establishing a clear link between the image and the accompanying text. Please attach the photo of choice.

Prose has a 2000-word limit, while poetry is capped at 50 lines, but shorter works are welcome.
