Take an intimate peek at this gorgeous townhouse in the quiet town of Senglea!

When Victoria von Schonburg-Hartenstein opened the door to the home she and her husband bought and renovated a few years back, we were absolutely mesmerised by the stunning décor that prevailed throughout the whole house.

While preserving the numerous authentic features, including the wide stone walls, wooden ceiling beams, vintage staircases, and authentic Maltese tiles, Victoria added several personal touches, colourful wallpaper, artwork and photographs, and unique furniture pieces acquired from around the world. The rooftop terrace enjoys stunning views of the nearby Three Cities.

All lighting fixtures in the home were obtained from the family business, Crafted Lanterns, which offers handmade lanterns and bold lighting fixtures that make a statement together with the high ceilings found here.

Have you ever wondered about what happens when a deluxe yacht is being newly built or refitted?

In our 2022 interview with Kenneth Coleiro—who runs Yacht Pride together with his brother Louis—we had a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the extensive but fascinating work required to create a new superyacht or refit an existing one.

Forming part of the Coleiro Group, which boasts decades of work within the paint industry, Yacht Pride is based in Viareggio, Italy, and specialises in the painting of superyachts, starting from lengths of 30 metres. Their high-quality spraying facilities and hundreds of specialised workers ensure an impressive portfolio within this domain.

Balancing art and science perfectly—with artist and engineer, Andrew Borg!

At Design & Décor, we love showcasing artists, especially when they bring a unique aspect to their paintings.

Andrew described how he bases his artwork on the curves and shapes found in mathematics, as he merges his knowledge of engineering with the more creative characteristics of art. He loves working en plein air, but also enjoys portraying mundane items from everyday life and constantly seeks to add an abstract touch to all his creations.

We featured Andrew in our Autumn/Winter 2022 issue, but today, his work continues to leave a lasting impression—testament to his multi-dimensional artistic talents.

Back in the spring of 2022, we were still tentatively recovering from the shock of the pandemic—and travel was one industry that was hugely impacted!

But, as the world began to heal, Jim Dunn stepped up and presented us with a few stunning destinations that helped us rediscover the urge to explore distant shores.

Back in 2022, the team behind Design & Décor magazine met with the fascinating Carmen Gaffiero!

In her 90s, the talented woman detailed her favourite pastimes, among which she mentioned art, cooking, flower arranging, interior design, building dolls’ houses, and playing card games.

Even as painting took a back seat because it was becoming too tiring for her, Carmen discovered a new art form known as Zentangle which uses pre-defined and repeated patterns to create beautiful works of art.

A triplex penthouse in Tigné was given a customised and elegant makeover by Kenneth and his expert team, transforming it via a timeless combination of contemporary and classic décor to create a comfortable family home with understated sophistication.
