Switzerland has confirmed it will be reducing its planned F-35A purchase to remain in line with its approved budget, after what it believed to be a fixed-price contract turned out not to be what the Swiss government had expected. Thus, the original order for 36 fighters will be revised downwards to ensure that the CHF 6 billion budget, which had been approved by voters in a 2020 referendum, will be respected.

Switzerland expects its first F-35s in 2027, with assembly to take place in Cameri, Italy.

The Albanian Civil Aviation Authority has suspended Air Albania's operating license, following the airline's failure to meet key regulatory and operational requirements mandated under Albanian civil aviation law.

The airline has not flown any flights since around December 7th, but continues to offer ticket sales via its website.

This is the second blow to the airline after 49% shareholder Turkish Airlines announced its intention to sell its stake in the airline.

Project Tweet is a project by the Arizona Aviation Historical Group to save five Cessna T-37Bs from the AMARG boneyard in Tucson, Arizona, from the 41 surviving aircraft, with the goal of restoring one to flight status.

The group is currently seeking an act of Congress to acquire the aircraft, which are currently US property. Once acquired, the plan is to restore the most viable airframe to flight status, use the other four for spares recovery, and restore another to static status as a gate guard at the former Williams AFB.

Today in Aviation: 12.12.1979 - First Flight Sikorsky SH-60 Seahawk

The Seahawk was a derivative of the US Army's UH-60's Black Hawk helicopter, adapted for shipborne use by the US Navy. Main changes included a folding tail and main rotor and a relocated tailwheel and strengthened landing gear.

The SH-60 was available in many guises, most notably in the anti-submarine and anti-surface ship warfare, vertical replenishment, combat search and rescue and medevac roles, and more recently mine-detection.

Besides the US Navy, the Seahawk has been exported to a number of countries, including Australia, Brazil, Denmark, Greece, India, Israel, Japan, Norway, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand and Turkey.
