Learning to Pass, Not Learning to Drive

These days, we hear of so many accidents and tragic losses on our roads. While laws exist to punish reckless driving, little attention is given to how we actually learn to drive. From the start, learners are restricted to speeds of 30 km/h, yet after the test they are expected to handle 60 km/h to 110 km/h. Driving lessons are often limited to the exact route of the test.

Parking is taught using small marks placed on the car’s window as guide, but once licensed, we’re expected to park anywhere and in any vehicle. This “parrot learning” approach is like memorising for a school exam — it helps us pass but leaves us unprepared for real situations.

What if, instead, learners were trained on varied routes, at the actual speed limits, including motorways? Real driving skills come from real conditions — not from rehearsing an exam route.

Marche pacifique en mémoire d’Adam Attiave 💙🕊️

Un an déjà depuis qu’Adam Attiave nous a tragiquement quittés, tué par une barrière non fixée dans la cour de l’église de Ste-Croix.

Pour honorer sa mémoire, nous organisons une marche pacifique le samedi 16 août 2025.

🕧 Rendez-vous à 12h30
🚶‍♂️ Départ de la marche à 13h00 — devant la station de police d’Abercrombie, sur le Taxi Square d’Abercrombie
⛪ Arrivée : Église Père Laval, Ste-Croix — le lieu même où Adam a perdu la vie.

Cette marche est un hommage à Adam, mais aussi à tous les enfants partis trop tôt.
C’est un appel à la justice, à la conscience collective et à la sécurité pour tous nos enfants.

Nous invitons tout le monde à se joindre à nous : famille, amis, collègues, voisins, parents, enfants…
Mais aussi toutes celles et ceux qui nous ont soutenus, de près ou de loin, par leurs paroles, leurs prières, leur compassion ou leur simple présence. Vous faites partie de ce combat.

Vos témoignages nous ont profondément touchés.
Marchons ensemble, dans le calme et la dignité, pour qu’aucun autre enfant ne soit tué par négligence.

Pour tous les parents qui portent leur absence comme une cicatrice éternelle.
