As part of the Crèation Africa Program, Kwacha Creative Studios is attending the BIG event, which is Europe's biggest business Market. It is such an honour for us as a company to attend such high level business networking events, to sit in these rooms with actual change makers and potential investors, business partners and collaborators.

And so far, Paris has been amazing!

Our journey began when I found myself jobless, broke and confused, with a shiny new degree in banking and finance gathering dust, I couldn’t understand why I couldn’t find a job. I wasn't alone, though - many of my fellow graduates were facing the same struggles. So many of us believed that a degree was the golden ticket to success, only to find out that the job market was stagnant and unforgiving.

Growing up in Malawi, I'd always had a passion for acting and storytelling. I even directed a film at 16! But, like many of us Africans, the creative arts are not viewed as viable career options so I was persuaded to pursue a "stable" career, thinking it would bring me security and happiness. Boy, was I wrong.

As I looked around, I noticed that many African countries that had invested in their film industries were thriving. Their economies were growing, and young people were finding meaningful work. That's when the lightbulb moment hit me - what if we could do the same in Malawi?

Together with my partner, we decided to take a leap of faith and start Kwacha Creative Studios, a film production and distribution company that would not only tell our own stories but also create opportunities for others. It wasn't an easy decision, but it was the start of an incredible journey.

Entrepreneurship is a lonely journey, it's really tough. You lose so much that makes you question whether or not you should continue.
Then life-changing opportunities come along. Opportunities that make all that struggle and perseverance worthwhile. Opportunities that make you understand that you are extraordinary and that there is much more to gain if you keep going and working hard. You meet people who are willing to swim alongside you even through the storm, people willing to bet on you even when nobody else will. For us that opportunity came to us from the French Institute in the form of the Crèation Africa Program.
Out of over 700 applicants, Kwacha Creative Studios has been selected to be part of the 12 brilliant businesses entering Crēation Africa's final incubation and immersion stage. The first of its kind specifically tailored towards creative businesses trying to make an impact.
We are honoured to be part of this programme. The exposure and collaboration opportunities with the CCI Businesses in Lesotho, South Africa and France are invaluable. Finally, We’re excited to grow our business and help create meaningful impacts for our communities.

Kwacha Creative Studios is looking for women, regardless of Age, Nationality, Race, Religion or profession who have been abused, tortured, exploited, harmed or injured by a fellow woman to share their stories openly or anonymously for a documentary feature.

The purpose is to understand why women sometime work against each other, and how we can bring about change.
