Malawi Government has maintained its stand that it will not reduce fuel prices despite the presure from public transport operators. This comes after minibus operators protested against the new covid19 rules that they must reduce the sitting capacity by 60%. Speaking in an interview Minister of Information Honorable Gospel Kazako said government will not reduce fuel prices since Malawi does not produce fuel and those who are not inline with this must change the business since we have alot of businesses in the country.

Maria Chidzanja Nkhoma has passed on in the early hours of today 9th January 2021 at the Kamuzu Central Hospital in Lilongwe.
Maria died at the Covid 19 isolation center where she was receiving treatment.
Until the time of her death Maria was working at Zodiak Broadcasting Station ZBS.

219 New Covid 19 Cases registered

Minister of healthy honorable Jappie Mhango has announced that Malawi has registered 219 new covid19 cases in the last 24 hrs taking the total number of Covid 19 confirmed patients to 1064.

So far according to the Malawi Electoral Commission MEC official results from 6 districts of Likoma, Chiradzulo, Mwanza, Ntchisi, Balaka and Zomba DPP/UDF is leading with 72.4% followed by MCP/UTM with 27.1% coming third is MMD with 0.5%. The Malawi Electoral Commission MEC has argued all Malawians to remain calm as it is doing all it can to release the results as soon as possible.

Some media houses are allegedly misleading people by telling them that MCP and UTM will win the fresh presidential election.
This comes after a number of concerned citizens wrote on government and MBC pages that this information will bring confusion amoung many Malawians when the results favours DPP and UDF.

Parliament has set 23rd June 2020 as date for the fresh presidential election. This comes after Malawi Electoral Commission MEC left the matter in the hands of parliamentarians to decide on the date. However professor Arthur Peter Mutharika is yet to sign the amendment bills concerning the electoral reforms.
