Mining Minister Meets Ministry Staff

Mining Minister Hon. Thoko Tembo, MP, visited the Ministry of Mining headquarters and met with senior managers and staff.

Tembo urged all staff to stay focused on the Ministry’s vision and work as a team.

“Everyone in the Ministry must understand our vision. If we do that, we can implement and work together as a team,” Tembo said.

Director of Administration Martin Nkasala told the Minister that the Government expects the Ministry to contribute 10% to Malawi’s GDP by 2030.

“The staff are ready to support your leadership. With your guidance, we are confident we will meet this target,” Nkasala said.

Director of Mines Burnett Msika reported progress on key reforms. These include the new Artisanal and Small-scale Mining (ASM) Policy and reviews of the Explosives Act, Petroleum Act, and Petroleum Taxation Act.

Director of Planning and Policy Patricia Zimpita said the Ministry is building partnerships with development partners.

Digital system to speed up Malawi’s farm trade

Deputy Minister of Agriculture Thoko Tembo says a new digital system called SPSIS will make trading farm products faster and easier in Malawi.

Speaking at the launch in Lilongwe, Tembo said the Digital Sanitary and Phytosanitary Information System (SPSIS) will simplify and speed up paperwork needed to export and import agricultural goods. That process has faced delays for years.

Government got $2.8 million from the World Bank through the Southern Africa Trade and Connectivity Project to build the platform.

SPSIS will help key departments, including the Department of Agricultural Research Services (DARS) and the Department of Animal Health and Livestock Development (DAHLD); these departments issue trade documents for farm products.

A Bingo ayankhula mawuwa pomwe amawonetsa katundu wa kampaniyo kwa Wachiwiri kwa Nduna yoona za Ulimi, a Thoko Tembo.

Izi zidachitika pa mwambo wokhazikitsa Ndondomeko ya Ntchito ya 2026–2031 ya mgwirizano wa mabungwe a CISANET, womwe unachitikira ku Lilongwe.

Malunga has bowed to death after fighting for his health for a time.

Limbe was fan of his voice especially pa Nkhani za m'ma Boma and other news programs.
