Mining Minister Meets Ministry Staff

Mining Minister Hon. Thoko Tembo, MP, visited the Ministry of Mining headquarters and met with senior managers and staff.
Tembo urged all staff to stay focused on the Ministry’s vision and work as a team.
“Everyone in the Ministry must understand our vision. If we do that, we can implement and work together as a team,” Tembo said.
Director of Administration Martin Nkasala told the Minister that the Government expects the Ministry to contribute 10% to Malawi’s GDP by 2030.
“The staff are ready to support your leadership. With your guidance, we are confident we will meet this target,” Nkasala said.
Director of Mines Burnett Msika reported progress on key reforms. These include the new Artisanal and Small-scale Mining (ASM) Policy and reviews of the Explosives Act, Petroleum Act, and Petroleum Taxation Act.
Director of Planning and Policy Patricia Zimpita said the Ministry is building partnerships with development partners.
