The FDH Cup Round of 16 kicks off this afternoon with giants Mighty Wanderers and Silver Strikers back in action.

The Nomads will face top-tier Mzuzu City Hammers at Rumphi Stadium, while the Bankers take on lower-tier FC Shire at Civil Stadium.

Wanderers convincingly edged MAFCO FC 3-1 at Champions Stadium in Mponera, and Silver Strikers beat Mighty Tigers 1-0 at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre to book their place in the FDH round of 16.

Tough times continue for Erik ten Hag, who has been sacked by Bayer Leverkusen just two matches into the new Bundesliga season marking his second dismissal.

Two seasons have apparently taught the former Manchester United boss a harsh lesson that managers are ultimately just hired to be sacked.

Despite the turmoil, ten Hag's team has managed to collect a point from the two matches played so far.

Before joining Manchester United, ten Hag made a name for himself as a successful manager at Ajax FC in 2019

Balaka Senior resident magistrate court has sentenced Shukulani Ackim to 8 years imprisonment with hard labour for sleeping and impregnating a 14-year-old girl.

According to a court case report, Ackim committed the offense between July 2023 and January this year resulting into a girl's pregnancy.

"Appearing before court, Ackimu pleaded not guilty which prompted the state prosecutor, Inspector Shadreck Jonathan Wisiki to present five witnesses who proved the case beyond reasonable doubt leading to his conviction." Reads the report.

Senior Resident Magistrate Joshua Nkhono handed down the sentence, concurring with the state's submission for a stiff penalty to serve as a deterrent to potential offenders.

Ackimu comes from Chikondi Village in Traditional Authority Nyanyala in Balaka District.
