Ryalls Hotel has today donated food and non-food items to Courageous Kids Foundation in Mpemba, Blantyre.

Speaking during the handover, the hotel’s Human Resources Manager, Beatrice Mangulenje, said the donation was part of the institution’s commitment to giving back to the community. She added that the hotel found it meaningful to celebrate the festive season by sharing with the foundation.

Assistant Director for Courageous Kids Foundation Shillah Msasa expressed gratitude to Ryalls Hotel, saying the support had come at a critical time when the organisation is struggling to provide adequate food for the children under its care.

Currently, the foundation supports 198 children, of whom 13 are enrolled in various universities, 37 are in secondary school, while the rest are in primary and nursery schools.

At least five families in the area of Traditional Authority M'ndida in Ntchisi District have been displaced after heavy rains and strong winds destroyed their homes.

Ntchisi District Council Spokesperson James Mwale confirmed the incident, stating that the Thursday night storms caused no casualties.

According to Traditional Authority M'ndida, property worth millions of kwacha—including fertiliser, maize, and flour—has been destroyed.

M'ndida has called on well-wishers for immediate support to help the victims, who are now struggling to rebuild their collapsed homes.

The council, through the Department of Disaster Management, is yet to establish the full extent of the damage, as community risk reduction committees are currently assessing the situation on the ground.
