Role: Continuity Presenter (Intern)
Location: Groove100 FM Studios
Reports to: Production Manager
Purpose of the Role
To be the on-air link that keeps Groove100 FM’s broadcast seamless, engaging, and unmistakably “100 or Nothing.” The Continuity Presenter ensures smooth transitions between music, shows, ads, news, and station features while maintaining the station’s urban, vibrant, and youthful brand voice. To intertwine the stations national profile with local dialects and languages that resonate with with the audience base that Groove100 is broadcasting to across Malawi.
Key Responsibilities
1. On-Air Linking & Flow
• Introduce and close shows, music segments, and special features.
• Provide smooth transitions between automated playlists, live shows, news, and advertisements.
• Avoid dead air by filling short breaks with relevant, engaging content.
2. Brand Voice & Identity
• Use Groove100 FM slogans, taglines, and signature phrases (“100 or Nothing,” “Groovist vibes,” etc.) in links.
• Maintain a consistent tone and energy that matches Groove100’s identity — youthful, dynamic, and urban.
3. Information Updates
• Give clear station IDs (“This is Groove100 FM – 100 or Nothing!”).
• Provide accurate time checks, weather, traffic, and relevant public announcements.
• Deliver quick promotional mentions for station events, games, and contests.
4. Audience Connection
• Read out social media comments, dedications, and competition entries during short breaks.
• Direct listeners to station platforms (USSD *4100 #, website, social media).
5. Compliance & Broadcast Standards
• Ensure all mandatory station IDs, sponsorship tags, and scheduled announcements are aired as per regulatory and commercial requirements.
• Keep the sound professional, upbeat, and in line with station policies.
Skills & Qualities Required
• Voice: Clear, warm, and engaging; adaptable for different moods and time slots.
• Timing: Ability to keep links concise and on schedule.
• Energy: Naturally upbeat with the ability to lift the station’s mood instantly.
• Brand Understanding: Deep familiarity with Groove100 FM’s style, music policy, and audience.
• Technical Awareness: Basic operation of studio equipment and understanding of playlists/logs.
Performance Indicators (KPIs)
• Smoothness of transitions with minimal dead air.
• Consistency of brand identity in all links.
• Positive listener feedback on energy and engagement.
• Compliance with all scheduled IDs, sponsorship mentions, and promos.
Language proficiency (a must)
-Proficient in one of the following languages Yao, Tumbuka, Chichewa, Tonga, Sena
