A government fund was created to help musicians grow their art. The people entrusted to protect it — the Board — have instead raided it for themselves.

This is not “supporting creatives.”
This is self-enrichment.

Their pathetic defence? “We sought legal opinion.”
Let’s be clear: Legal loopholes do not excuse moral bankruptcy.
Ethics is about honour and trust — both of which they’ve shredded.

You CANNOT be:
• Referee and player
• Judge and contestant
• Treasurer and beneficiary

That is Conflict of Interest 101 — an unforgivable breach of public trust and corporate governance.

Instead of ensuring deserving Malawian artist could access this money, they hid behind weak processes, failed to reach those in need, and then shamelessly paid themselves.

This is theft from the dreams of Malawi’s creatives.
It is an insult to every artist who can’t afford instruments, studio time, or basic promotion.
It is a stain on the nation’s governance.

1️⃣ Return the funds — every kwacha.
2️⃣ Re-open applications with fair, transparent outreach.
3️⃣ Resign immediately if you took the money — you cannot be both grant manager and grant recipient.

NO BOARD MEMBER SHOULD HAVE ACCESSED THESE FUNDS

Kingston Sentenced to 3½ Years in Prison

“Beautiful Girls” hitmaker Sean Kingston has been sentenced to three and a half years in federal prison for his role in a million-dollar luxury fraud scheme.

Prosecutors revealed the Jamaican-American star, real name Kisean Anderson, along with his mother, scammed victims out of luxury watches, a 232-inch LED TV, a bulletproof Cadillac Escalade, and high-end furniture — all worth over $1 million.

His mother, Janice Turner, was handed five years in July.

Kingston apologized in court, saying he has “learned from his mistakes.” But prosecutors say the scheme involved fake wire receipts and using his celebrity status to lure victims.

This marks a stunning downfall for the singer once topping charts with hits like Fire Burning and Eenie Meenie with Justin Bieber.
