A lot of Malawians believe that Malawi National Womens team is struggling due to failure by the technical panel to guide the already-skilled squad.

Many have called for the firing of the technical panel if the team wants to do better at WAFCON next year.

This comes after the team failed to produce better results in the Three Nations Tournament which is currently underway in Malawi as they lost 2-1 to Zimbabwe and drew 1-1 to Zambia despite only missing Temwa Chawinga as their one of the most reliable players.

The team played 8 friendlies before facing Angola to qualify for the WAFCON and managed to win in three games, beaten Zambia 3-2 and back to back 3-0 wins over Lesotho. They lost the other five to South Africa twice, Zambia, Morocco and Ghana.

Against Angola, they drew 0-0 away from home before surviving an upset at home to score two late goals that sealed the result.

This means in the past 12 games, Malawi has four wins, two draws and 6 defeats both in friendlies and competitive matches. Malawians believe that the stats are not deserving a team like Malawi which has quality and world class players.

However, Lovemore Fazili remains the first coach to win the COSAFA Women's Championship and take the team to their first ever WAFCON tournament.
