I’m proud to have been part of a two-day training on leveraging the Access to Information Law in sustainable energy reporting, organized by the Association of Environmental Journalists in Malawi (AEJ-Malawi) with support from Oxfam in Malawi Civil Society Network on Climate Change - Cisonecc, Centre for Environmental Policy and Advocacy and the European Union in Malawi.

The training was an incredible opportunity to gain practical skills that help journalists uncover energy challenges, promote accountability, and amplify the voices of communities striving for clean and sustainable energy. I’m also honored to have received a Certificate of Attendance, which motivates me even more to continue reporting impactful environmental stories.

As part of the program, we visited Sitolo Village in Mchinji District to see the life-changing Sitolo Solar Minigrid Project. This 80-kilowatt minigrid has connected over 1,200 households in Sitolo, Ndawambe, and Molosiyo villages, transforming a community that spent decades waiting for electricity into a model for rural electrification in Malawi.

I was excited to contribute through my photography skills, capturing the inspiring stories and moments of the visit. Visual storytelling is such a powerful way to show how renewable energy can change lives, and I’m proud to have been part of this journey.

Clean energy is not just about technology — it’s about empowering communities and creating opportunities. I look forward to sharing more stories that inspire change across Malawi!

What a refreshing experience at SustainFest 2025!

Yesterday, I had the privilege of joining my fellow media colleagues at SustainFest, an inspiring gathering that brought together Indigenous communities to celebrate Malawi’s sustainable food systems.

We tasted amazing locally made juices like chidede, bwemba, khathikhathi malambe and many more—each one rich in flavour, culture, and tradition. 🍹🇲🇼

As an Environmental Journalist, being part of such events isn’t just work—it’s a calling. These platforms remind us that the solutions to today’s climate and food challenges are already rooted in our communities. SustainFest gives voice to local innovators and traditional wisdom that hold the key to a more resilient Malawi.

Personally, it has been a space of learning, reflection, and growth. It has strengthened my passion for telling the untold stories that matter—stories of people, land, and hope.

💚 Let’s keep celebrating our roots, promoting sustainability, and supporting Indigenous knowledge. That’s how we secure a healthier future—for Malawi and beyond.

🌱 Healthy soils. Healthy seeds. Healthy foods. Malawi’s future—guaranteed.

Since 2020, Malawi has lost over 4,000, not just 5, not 20, not 100, not 500 not 2000 but 4000+ human lives, to su***de. And these are not just numbers but fathers, mothers, sons, daughters...dreams aborted mid-flight. Some of those were preventable but there are no real psychological emergency response systems in this country. This is why the Sorry I'm Not Sorry-We Are All Sick initiative is building a buffer zone.

We’re building something Malawi has never seen before: A network of mental health advocates in every district, every community, Nsanje to Chitipa. People who listen. People who understand. People who are not afraid to say, “You are not alone.” People who will respond to you when you're in psychological and emotional distress and refer you to the nearest professional support in your area.

In such an effort, On 31st May 2025, we will gather in Lilongwe at Golden Peacock Hotel, to reflect on how we can save lives beyond our current initiative of the Venting Room, to nourish each other's passion of service, to connect, to build and grow as a movement. This isn’t just an event. It’s a rebellion against silence. It’s a safe space. A lifeline. A beginning.

If this sounds like something you would want to be a part of, please come, you will be welcomed. If you know someone who needs to be part of this, an individual, a company, a business or an organization (either as a participant or a sponsor) in the comment box.
If you are tired of watching the numbers rise while hearts break, join us in making a difference.

Together, we can shift this narrative. Let’s build stronger support systems. Let’s be the reason someone stays. Contact +265998896206 for inquiries or participation.

It has been honor to be part of this year's Annual Congress for Science and Environmental Journalists in Malawi organized by Association of Environmental Journalists in Malawi (AEJ-Malawi) .

One thing I have learnt I this life, we need to be part of plan and not only focusing on the shortfalls but also report of the successes being registered in environmental sector. It's our world, we need to live for it and care for it.
