Radio Dinosaur 107.6 FM - Karonga Community Radio Station ISYU LYABANDU The Karonga Community Trust (KCT) is an Organisation whose main goal is to implement and manage the Radio Dinosaur 107.6 FM.

Its main focus is to educate, entertain, inform, and address the Karonga District masses about different issues that are affecting them. The KCT was registered as a non-profit NGO under the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) on 28th January 2013. The Radio Station was awarded its broadcasting license in June 2013 and thereafter it was gazetted by the members of parliament allowing it to sta

rt broadcasting. The organization`s main responsibility is to see that the communities in Karonga District are well informed on issues affecting their welfare. The Community’s Radio Station shall facilitate an easy flow of information from public and private sector institutions to the entire general masses of the Karonga Community. The Radio will enable the people of Karonga to have a more diversified source of information, education, and entertainment. Karonga Community Trust was established to support and sustain the activities of the community radio station. The Radio Station is known as:- Radio Dinosaur FM and its frequency is 107.6 Mega Hertz FM. Radio Dinosaur FM started way back in 2003 as a general concern to address some social and economic issues that were affecting the district at large. The idea was derived after getting reports from different research materials that took place in the district that indicated high illiteracy levels. This hatched a formulation of Radio Dinosaur FM which is at Karonga Old Town (Old MRA buildings) and it provides a suitable place for interaction with diverse kinds of people. The area is rich in history with its Kya-Ngonde tradition, the beauty of the Cultural diversity, and also the palaeontological, and archaeological heritage and precious stones like Uranium and Coal, these hoards are very important stories worth celebrating, treasuring, and indeed sharing with the Community. The fauna is similar to that discovered in South Africa. The area has also proved to be the home of a dinosaur world. Evidence of dinosaurs in the district has made a Radio to derive its name.

Four political parties from Malawi's Northern Region are set to hold a joint electoral alliance rally at Chibavi Ground in Mzuzu on 22 June.

The parties participating in the alliance rally include the National Development Party (NDP), led by Frank Tumpale Mwenifumbo; the Alliance for Democracy (AFORD), led by Chakufwa Chihana; the Freedom Party, headed by Hastings Khumbo Kachali; and the Solidarity Alliance Party, under the leadership of Victor Buchizga Madhlopa.

The rally will be held under the theme "Equal Distribution of Development", reflecting the alliance’s shared commitment to equitable national development.

The President of the National Development Party (NDP), Frank Tumpale Mwenifumbo, has successfully collected his nomination papers for the upcoming presidential election.

According to a statement issued by Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Public Relations Officer Sangwani Mwafuriwa, this brings the total number of presidential aspirants who have collected nomination papers to ten.

National Development Party President Frank Tumpale Mwenifumbo stated:

"Before I joined politics in 1993, I was already well-established. My intention was never to benefit personally from politics, but rather to serve the nation. I have held various ministerial positions under different former presidents, and my contributions have been recognized by many Malawians. During my tenure as Deputy Minister of Agriculture under the late Dr. Bingu wa Mutharika, we received accolades for outstanding performance. At that time, Malawi was ranked as the second-fastest growing economy in the world, after Qatar.

Malawi is a nation with great potential to become an exporter rather than an importer. I recall, during my time as Deputy Minister, overseeing rice exports Malawi to countries such as the Kingdom of Swaziland, Kingdom of Lesotho, Haiti, and others. This was the first and last time Malawi became an international donor. These are the kinds of initiatives I intend to revive, having gained valuable experience over the years.

Voters deserve to be appreciated for their participation in the democratic process, because a vote is an investment. As political leaders, we must not focus our campaigns solely in urban areas. We need to reach places where people are truly suffering. For example, during my recent visit to Ngomiyawo in Mzimba, I witnessed the lack of electricity in many parts of the district. This is unacceptable, especially considering that Mzimba is one of the districts with the highest voter turnout. As leaders, we must recognize and respond to the needs of such communities.

I understand that some people question my movement between political parties. The truth is, I seek smart, progressive politics,not politics filled with internal plots and personal agendas. That is why I established my own party, the National Development Party (NDP). I firmly believe the time has come for the North to have a strong political voice, and with the NDP, I will work to ensure both the Northern Region and the entire country benefit from my leadership."

DEVASTATING PLANE CRASH

An air India flight to London with 242 people on board has crashed shortly after takeoff in the western Indian city of Ahmedabad.

Local authorities say the plane came down in a residential area of the city. Gatwick airport - in London - has confirmed that the plane was bound to land around 06:30 PM local time.

India’s Ahmedabad Airport is currently not operational and all flghts have been suspended temporarily.

The plane’s manifest shows there were 169 Indian citizens on board, 42 British Nationals, 7 Portuguese,1 Canadian, 2 pilots and 10 crew members

So far, 1 survivor and 204 bodies have been recovered and the search is still progressing

The plane was a Boeing 787 Dreamliner one the most modern aircraft in service today.
