The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, with support from the UNDP Malawi and the World Bank under the Digital Malawi Acceleration Project (DMAP), convened Principal Secretaries for a one-day high-level working session under Ulendo Wachangu W’AI, focused on AI for Government.
The engagement followed resolutions from the 2025 Cabinet Retreat and aimed at aligning Artificial Intelligence with Malawi 2063. It is designed to ensure that digital transformation across government moves from intention to real impact.
Principal Secretary for E-Government, Prosper Charles Mopiwa, emphasised the urgency of coordinated action, highlighting that AI and digital transformation are critical to achieving an efficient, secure and citizen-centred public service.
Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet who was the Guest of Honour, Justin Adack K. Saidi, stressed on the importance of responsible leadership in shaping innovation that enhances public value, strengthens service delivery and supports inclusive development, while safeguarding accountability.
Discussions focused on strengthening coordination across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), improving policy and regulatory frameworks, expanding connectivity, and accelerating the development of the Boma Lathu one-stop digital services platform.
One of the Trainers, Rachel Sibande reminded leaders that AI should enhance human capability and must be adopted responsibly to strengthen governance and inclusive growth.
The high-level session marks a decisive step towards building a modern, digitally enabled and citizen-centred public sector in line with Malawi 2063.
