Dzaleka Refugee Camp

the largest settlement of its kind in Malawi, located in the Dowa District about 41 kilometers north of Lilongwe. Originally built as a political prison, it was repurposed in 1994 and currently hosts over 57,000 refugees despite being designed for a capacity of just 10,000 to 12,000 people.
