Hygiene for Life Week 1 Progress

Our very own Scout Joseph Peter Kamvabingu has completed the first week (5 hours) of his Hygiene for Life journey under the Scouts of the World Award (SOWA).

During this first week, Joseph focused on fundraising and planning. He reached out to several organizations such as UNICEF Malawi, WaterAid in Malawi ,Freshwater Project International , and other local and international partners. Although many have not yet replied, Joseph remains hopeful and committed to making this project a success.

As he moves into Week 2, Joseph will focus on preparation designing hygiene posters, collecting materials, and planning for the first school and community outreach sessions.

Let’s keep encouraging him as he continues working to improve hygiene and clean water education in Malawi

CHAMBO Scouts Exploring the Future of 3D Design

From 17,20 June 2025, our Troop Leader Joseph Peter Kamvabingu and Emmanuel a member of the Troop proudly attended a 3D Design & Printing Workshop at the American Center Lilongwe, hosted in partnership with the U.S. Embassy Lilongwe.

This training marks a new step in our journey toward digital dignity and youth-led innovation. Joseph’s new skills will help CHAMBO Scouts explore how technology can serve our communities especially if we one day access a 3D printer here at our base.

We imagine a future where Scouts design and produce:

🧵 Woggles and emblems for patrol pride
🧼 Hygiene tools for our Hygiene for Life service
🧠 Learning models for schools and outreach
💡 Even Scout-made items for sale, earning with pride

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the workshop facilitators Allan Kantombera and Maurice Mlozi, and to Phillipp G. Grant, Public Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Lilongwe, for supporting this opportunity.

As always, we believe in earning support through service, and we hope this milestone inspires more youth to dream boldly and build practically.

Official Launch: Hygiene for Life Project

Today, we proudly launch the Hygiene for Life Project (1st Oct – 21st Dec 2025) here in Malawi.

Our mission is simple yet powerful:
Educate 500+ children, families, and schools on hygiene and safe water practices
Fight against malaria and cholera through awareness and prevention
Empower communities with knowledge that saves lives

This project is part of the Scouts of the World Award (SOWA), and we are proud that our very own Joseph Peter Kamvabingu is leading it with the support of mentors and fellow Scouts.

Change begins with awareness, and awareness begins today. Together, we can build healthier, stronger communities.

We wish Joseph all the best as he carries this vision forward on behalf of CHAMBO Court Troop.

Exciting News

We are happy to announce that Joseph Peter Kamvabingu will be starting the “Hygiene for Life Project” of SOWA on 1st October 2025 🧼💧

This project will run until December 2025 and aims to promote better hygiene practices, healthier living, and stronger communities. Through education, activities, and awareness, we are committed to making a lasting impact starting with our young people and families.

This CHICHEWA STARTER badge is free and digital for now, it’s a symbol of your effort and pride as you begin learning the Chichewa language with CHAMBO Scout Troop.

In the future maybe five years from now we hope to award real embroidered badges to those who’ve earned them through service and learning.

This idea was created by Joseph Peter Kamvabingu Scout Leader of Chambo Scout Troop Malawi, to help Scouts grow in language, culture, and legacy through every spoken word.

Tiyende Scout Sports Project Support CHAMBO Scouts Troop Malawi 🇲🇼

Many young Scouts in Malawi have talent but lack the support to grow. That’s why our Troop Leader, Joseph Peter Kamvabingu started Tiyende: to build strong Scouts through sports, teamwork, and service.

Not just games discipline, leadership, and pride.
Scouts earn every step through action.

We’ve connected with KitAid, a UK charity that donates football kits to youth-led projects. They’ve offered to support us but we need a UK contact to help.

In June, CHAMBO Scout Troop’s leader Joseph Peter Kamvabingu donated clothes and shoes to youth and families in need. it was a Scout’s act of service.

we believe in doing what Scouts are meant to do help others, restore dignity, and lead by example.

We’re now trying to reach more young people across Malawi.
