Zunaid Moti Financed DPP Campaign With US$6 Million, Rewarded With Deals and Appointment as Ambassador-at-Large
Malawi voice can confidently reveal that South African businessman Zunaid Moti financed the ruling DPP’s election campaign with US$6 million.
According to information available to us Moti’s appointment as Malawi’s Ambassador-at-Large formed part of an agreement under which he would finance the DPP campaign. Following the party’s victory in the September 16 elections, the appointment was subsequently effected.
The letter outlining the terms and conditions of the alleged agreement is dated 12 July 2025, just months before the September 16 elections.We have it in our possession signed by both Moti and Malawi President Mutharika .
In our earlier publication, we revealed that Moti is expected to play a key role in facilitating major investment negotiations involving Malawi’s mining, energy and fuel sectors on behalf of the Government of Malawi.
The reported MK4 billion donation to the First Lady’s BEAM Trust is also cited as part of efforts to strengthen his relationship with the country’s leadership.
