The Former Deputy Speaker of Parliament of Malawi shot himself.

Hon. Clement Chiwaya who saved as deputy speaker of Malawi Parliament from 2014 to 2019 shot himself inside the parliament building.

Hon. Clement Chiwaya was given a car as user friendly. The Parliament of Malawi failed to gave him ownership documents. This made Hon. Chiwaya to think that the parliament of Malawi is not respecting him because his disability.

ONE DIES, TWO HOSPITALISED AFTER EATING
POISONOUS FOOD IN MANGOCHI

A 2-year-old boy, Faruk lssah, has died while his two elder brothers Haji Issah, 12 and Yulard lssah, 10, are admitted at Makanjira Health Centre after eating wild beans locally known as ndozi.

The tragedy happened on September 13, 2021 at Malufu Village Traditional Authority Makanjira in the district

Mangochi Police Spokesperson Amina Tepani Daudi confirmed the development to Vessels Magazine.

" It is reported that, on the previous day before the incident, the mother to the three Zione lndia, 38, cooked wild beans which she got from nearby Langwe hill; Said Daudi.

The same night, all the family members fell sick and became unconscious soon after eating the beans.

They were rushed to Makanjira Health Centre where Faruk was pronounced dead upon arrival. The two siblings are receiving treatment at the same hospital while the mother was treated as outpatient.

Meanwhile specimen of the suspected food poisoning has been collected for further examination.

The deceased hailed from Malufu Village Traditional Authority Makanjira in Mangochi.

6 PEOPLE DIE IN MANGOCHI ROAD ACCIDENT

Six people have died while others sustained various degrees of injuries after the motor vehicle they were traveling in hit an embarkment before it overturned.

According to Mangochi Police Spokesperson Amina Tepani Daudi, one of the deceased has been identified as Lingson Majo, 32, from Kalanje Village, Traditional Authority Katuli in Mangochi while five others are yet to be identified.

The tragedy happened during the night of September 2, 2021 at Chowe Hills.

The Toyota Hino lorry registration number NB 9698 was being driven by Patrick, full particulars not advised, from the direction of Katuli heading Mangochi Boma loaded with bags of maize and 12 passengers on board.

As the driver was descending Chowe Hills, he lost control of the motor vehicle due to over speeding and swerved to the offside of the road where the vehicle hit an embarkment before it overturned once.

Following the impact, Majo and unknown five other passengers sustained severe head injuries and were pronounced dead upon arrival at Mangochi District Hospital.

One passenger sustained head injury while others escaped with minor injuries.

The driver abandoned the motor vehicle and fled the scene to unknown destination.

Meanwhile, police are hunting for the driver.

The dead bodies of the unidentified passengers are being kept at Mangochi mortuary waiting to be identified by relatives.

Police are therefore appealing to people to contact the nearest Police or visit Mangochi District Hospital mortuary through Mangochi Police if they are missing a relative.

The law enforcers are further appealing to drivers to always follow road safety measures to avoid accidents.

TWO FISHERMEN FOUND DEAD IN LAKE MALAWI

The dead bodies of fishermen who went missing after their canoe capsized due to heavy Mwera storm have been found floating near Mtondo fishing dock.

According to the spokesperson of Mangochi Police Amina Tepani Daudi, the deceased have been identified as Ishmael Israel and Shiluba full particulars not advised, went missing on August 29, 2021 at Chiphole fishing dock along Lake Malawi.

According to Police findings, on the said date, four fishermen including the deceased went fishing on the waters of Lake Malawi in one canoe despite strong winds.

In the process, their canoe got capsized and all of them fell into the water. Luckily, the two among them survived while others went missing.

Members of the community organized a search party that later found the two body bodies floating on August 31, 2021.

The Police and medical personnel from Maganga Health Centre visited the scene and suffocation has been indicated as the cause of the death.

Police in the district are appealing to fishermen to pay attention to weather conditions and forecasts, allowing time to plan for threatening weather and react properly to avoid similar incidents.
