Political experts are questioning Chakwera's engagement on what he calls Youth SONA. They are asking why it is too hard for the youth to understand what Chakwera has said in SONA in parliament. If it's not making sense, it means Chakwera said nothing for the youth. Your SONA is a policy document, and in this case, the SONA President Chakwera delivered in Parliament was not for Malawians.

Chakwera has spent days trying to explain his SONA which many Malawians have punched holes and calling it useless and full of lies.

There are clashes between the police and some shop workers in Lilongwe’s Old Town.

The unrest follows protests by shop workers demanding a pay raise from their employers.

However, reports indicate that the protesters did not seek permission from the authorities beforehand.

As a result, the police fired teargas to disperse the demonstrators, who were heading towards Mchesi en route to the City Centre.

While the police managed to quell the impromptu protests, some individuals regrouped in different parts of Old Town to continue demonstrating, but security forces once again intervened to neutralize the situation.

Meanwhile, several shops in Old Town remain closed.
