“The Becoming” — 1 Kings 19:13–14
Elijah was a prophet who called fire from heaven and defeated 400 prophets, yet one threat from Jezebel made him forget what God had already done through him. Fear made him run, hide, and even pray for death.
Many believers are suffering the same way today. One bad day, one problem, one disappointment makes them forget the goodness, power, and faithfulness of God in their lives. Esau also lost his birthright because of a moment of temporary hunger.
God asked Elijah, “What are you doing here?” Heaven could not understand how a man carrying such an anointing could end up in fear and discouragement. God had to remind him that purpose was still ahead, but because Elijah lost focus, his mantle began to be shared with others.
In Numbers 13, Moses sent spies to the promised land. Out of the 12, only Joshua and Caleb carried the right spirit and a good report. They saw giants, but they also saw the promise of God. That is why Joshua was chosen to lead.
Your current trouble is not the end of your story. There is glory after the pain, victory after the battle, and greatness after the process.
Do not let yesterday’s troubles make you forget your becoming.
