FARMING CLUB URGED TO NURTURE WINTER CROPPING DEMONSTRATION SITE THAT SHOWCASES DELKAB HYBRID MAIZE FIELD PERFORMANCE
Members of Chikanda Club in Traditional Authority Khongoni, Lilongwe have been encouraged to remain committed to the management of a winter demonstration site that will showcase the performance of Bayer Malawi's Delkab hybrid maize seed varieties: DK777, DKC83-25 and DKC90-89 ahead of the forthcoming planting season.
Speaking during an interface meeting with club members on Friday, Bayer Malawi Customer Agronomist, Grace Mhango said, the demonstration plot will help farmers assess the performance of the hybrid maize seeds and make informed decisions when the planting season approaches.
To support the initiative, Bayer Malawi provided the club with 10 kilograms of hybrid maize seed, a 25-kilogram bag of Urea fertilizer and a 25-kilogram bag of NPK fertilizer.
Mhango also pledged continued support through the provision of pesticides and agronomic advisory services throughout the growing period.
She emphasized the importance of proper crop management to ensure that the demonstration site produces reliable results that can benefit farmers in the area.
Speaking on behalf of the club, Chairperson Bokola Matiyasi Chidauma expressed gratitude to Bayer Malawi for the support and confidence shown in the group.
Chidauma assured Bayer Malawi officials that club members would dedicate themselves to the preparation, maintenance and overall care of the demonstration site to ensure its success.
