Lilongwe City Council has aknowledged shortage of materials as a major setback in combating fire accidents in the city.

Speaking when the Africa Fire Mission delegation visited the civic offices, Director of administration M***a Mwale, said despite having well trained fire fighters, equipement such as fire engines among others is a major setback .

Commenting on the matter ,Acting chief Fire Officer of Lilongwe fire brigade engeneer Gideon Mwanza has however thanked Africa Fire Mission for their relentless support to the council's Fire department.

Africa Fire Mission will train fire fighters in Lilongwe city council in different areas to ensure efficiency in fire fighting.

Africa Fire Mission has commended the exceptional collaboration that is there between their volunteers and the local fire fighters in the country during trainings that are currently underway in the cities of Mzuzu and Blantyre.

AFM is continuing with its ten day mission in the country where it is equiping the local communities and fire fighters on morden fire dynamics and safety.

A ten-member delegation from Africa Fire Mission is in the country for a series of trainings in firefighting and rescue services with different stakeholders.

Fire safety officer José Ngunjiri has told us that the trip will help the local fire fighters know how to approach communities and teach them on how to fight small fire on their own.

He added that they will also equip them with knowledge on how to use firefighting equipment such as vehicle extraction, ladders, deploy hose and other locally available materials in the country's four fire stations.

So far, Africa Fire Mission has completed similar missions in Kenya, Nigeria,Ethiopia, and Zambia.

Africa Fire Mission is a group of firefighters, both career and volunteer, who believe in helping fellow firefighters in Africa stay safe while fighting fires.

It is committed to increasing the sustainable capacity of fire departments in developing communities through trainings, material support and encouragement.

ALL SET FOR MAGGIE'S NEW YEAR CELEBRATION GOSPEL SHOW

Preparations are at an advanced stage for Maggie Mangani's New year celebration gospel show which is scheduled on Monday,1st January 2024 at Mlambe motel in Balaka.

"Everything is set,we are just doing final touches now and trainings" Maggie Mangani disclosed in a telephone interview.

The show which is being organised by Maggie Mangani ministry will attract various gospel artist like Andy Seko, Miracle Chinga, Favoured Martha, Allan Chirwa,Michael Kasito,Limbani Cement, Gloria Manong'a,Ruth Missi, Michael Kasito, and many other supporting artists.

The gates will open at 10AM with an entry fee of mwk 3,000 adult and mwk 2,000 children.
