A witness in the ongoing plane crash inquiry, Ephraim Duma, has told the ad-hoc committee that he saw the late former Vice President Saulos Chilima at the door of the aircraft shortly before it crashed.
Duma, who by then was staying in Senti, Lilongwe, says he was travelling back to Lilongwe from Ekwendeni on June 10, after travelling there the previous day to buy a bicycle.
Duma claims while passing through the Chikangawa forest, he heard the sound of an aircraft but could not see it at first.
According to Duma, he later saw the aircraft flying unusually low, about two metres above the ground, with Chilima standing at the aircraft’s door, shouting and appearing to try to get out.
Duma says after seeing what was happening, he and his colleague decided to follow the aircraft, which was at the time flying around in circles.
The witness is continuing to give his account of what he says he saw before the aircraft eventually crashed.
