The High Court sitting in Mzuzu has ordered the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) to organize new primary elections for the Mzimba Central constituency.

Delivering the verdict, Justice Justus Kishindo faulted the party for using a manipulated electoral college that worked against Vitumbiko Mumba, the petitioner.

Reacting to the decision, Mumba’s legal representative, Khumbo Soko, expressed satisfaction, pointing out that the judgment confirms the use of a fraudulent voters’ list that disadvantaged his client.

On the other hand, Adamson Mkandawire, Mumba’s opponent, said he respects the court’s decision but will wait for the party’s guidance. He added that he is confident of securing victory once again.
