MBMF BRINGS LOVE, HOPE TO CHIKONDI ORPHANAGE

As part of celebrating this year’s Mother’s Day, which falls on October 15, a Christian youth group, My Bible My Friend (MBMF), says it is set to hold a special outreach program at Chikondi Orphanage in Ndirande, Blantyre.

Speaking in an interview, the spokesperson of the group, Charity Kapondera, said the event will focus on uplifting the lives of the children through fellowship, music, prayer, and donations of essential items.

According to the group, the decision to visit Chikondi Orphanage was influenced by the home’s dedication to caring for children in need of attention and support.

“As a group, we believe ministry is not only about preaching but also about showing God’s love through action. Visiting Chikondi allows us to touch young lives directly,” she explained.

The team will donate food items such as maize, rice, beans, and cooking oil, along with school supplies including exercise books and pens.

The campaign aims to reach 84 children, of whom 52 stay at the orphanage and 32 live with guardians in nearby communities.

To support the initiative, the group has set a fundraising goal of K2 million, which is being met through member contributions and donations from well-wishers.

My Bible My Friend also plans to expand its work by becoming a registered non-profit organization focused on charity, mentorship, and evangelism.

Independent presidential hopeful, Thoko Banda, has described the 16 September elections as a great opportunity for Malawians to choose whether to remain one of the poorest nations or to start growing economically.

Banda said both the current and past leadership have failed to eradicate poverty, instead enriching themselves without considering the welfare of poor Malawians.

Among other things, he said that once voted into power, he will ensure that 50 plus one percent of business opportunities will be reserved for Malawians.

Banda has therefore accused past administrations of failing to end hunger in the country.

“I don't understand why the government allows Malawians to be stricken by hunger when we have everything it takes to produce more maize. The problem of hunger in our country is man-made and people’s suffering is used for political gain.They cause hunger so that, when they give people food during campaign periods people must cheer them up. This will end once I am voted into power," he said.

Thoko Banda who is the son of the iconic politician, the late Aleke Banda, has therefore urged people to vote for an independent president, independent members of parliament, and ward councillors if Malawi is to develop.

The International Fellowship of Pastors and Churches (IFPC) Malawi says preparations for a three day mega crusade scheduled to take place from 1st to 3rd August are at an advanced stage.

Speaking to Eye of an Eagle Malawi, IFPC Malawi overseer Apostle James Nkhoma Labana said the crusade will take place at Balaka Secondary School grounds in Balaka District.

"Everything is going well and God continues to be faithful. We want to present the country's challenges to God so that He may heal our nation. We are going through hardships as a nation, and we want God's intervention. We will also pray for a peaceful election as we head towards the polls on 16th September," said Apostle Labana.

He has therefore appealed to well-wishers to support them financially to help cover some of the expenses.

Men of God from Ghana, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Zambia and South Africa are expected to grace the event.
