The 4th Edition of the Mzuzu City Half Marathon was successfully held on 28 March 2026 at Mzuzu Stadium under the theme Evergreen in Motion, attracting 128 athletes from across Malawi and delivering exciting competition in both the men’s and women’s races.
In the men’s 21KM race, Brave Mwamphanthe (MDF–Chilumba) claimed first place in 1:06:34, followed closely by Nathan Chisale (Moyale) in 1:06:47 and Thomas Chunga (Forever) in 1:06:50. In the women’s category, Fostina Mbemba (Moyale) finished first in 1:22:30, ahead of Mercy Malembo (Nsalu) in 1:23:34 and Tereza Master (Mulanje) in 1:26:02.
The relay races added excitement to the event, with Kamuzu Barracks winning the Women’s 400×1 relay ahead of Forever and Police, while JM won the Men’s 400×1 relay followed by Kamuzu Barracks and Moyale. In the Mixed 400×4 relay, Kamuzu Barracks again finished first, followed by Police and JM Team B.
Since its introduction in 2023, the Mzuzu City Half Marathon has continued to grow steadily, increasing participation from 91 athletes in its first edition to 128 athletes in 2026. As part of this year’s activities aligned with the Evergreen in Motion theme, a tree-planting exercise was conducted ahead of race day to promote environmental stewardship and community involvement.
