TEACHER IN DILEMMA: PURSUING HIGHER EDUCATION

Teachers who are registered for work but continue their studies at local universities are in trouble with their jobs now that it has been revealed that the government does not allow teachers to receive their salaries (be removed from the payroll).

According to a video circulating on social media, which we has seen, it is emphasized that all teachers who report for duty but do not show up at their workstations by the second week will only receive their September salary, and their jobs are at risk.

The video further states that the country's employment laws do not allow someone to pursue studies during working hours.

The Malawi College of Health Sciences (MCHS) invites applications for the October/November 2025 intake for the following programs with scholarships under the Presidential Initiative for Maternal Health:

1. DIPLOMA IN ANAESTHESIA AND INTENSIVE CARE MEDICINE

- Duration: 18 months
- Locations: Blantyre and Lilongwe
- Admission

REQUIREMENTS: Qualified Medical Assistants or Nurse Midwife Technicians with at least 2 years of experience.

MSCE or equivalent with credit passes in Mathematics, Biology, Physical Science, and English.

Must be registered with the Medical Council of Malawi or the Nurses and Midwives Council of Malawi.

2. DIPLOMA IN COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSING - UPGRADING

- Duration: 12 months
