The Salima First Grade Magistrate's Court has convicted and sentenced Edwin Msulira, 32, to serve 10 years imprisonment with hard labour, for breaking into a dwelling house and stealing cash valued at K500,000.00, a car battery and android phone valued at K1,900,000.00.
According to Salima police spokesperson, Rabecca Ndiwate, Sergeant Pemphero Dzanjalimodzi told the court that, it was during the night of September 10, 2025, at Seketeni village,when the complainant went to bed leaving his house well locked.
"The following morning, he noted the door of his house wide open and the mentioned items were missing". Ndiwate says.
Ndiwate further says investigations were instituted leading to the arrest of Msulira, who was found with the stolen phone.
Appearing before court, Msulira pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against him promoting the state to parade three witnesses.
The State prayed for a stiffer punishment citing seriousness of the offence.
The First Grade Magistrate Anthony Banda slapped him 10 years for Bulgraly, 2 years for theft, to run concurrently.
Edwin Msulira hails from Mtanda village, Traditional Authority Khombedza, Salima.
