This day will forever go down as the day I swam with hundreds of mobula rays!!!

For about three days, large schools of mobulas were moving up the coast. We woke up to rays jumping near the shore, circling the bay, and heard them leaping into the night.

When you see this many jumping out of the water, it means there’s a massive school underneath—a sight I’ve always dreamed of witnessing. Jimmy scooted me closer, and without hesitation, I jumped in with my snorkel and fins.

And WOW, it was absolutely breathtaking! ✨

Fun fact: Mobula rays are famous for their spectacular acrobatics, often leaping several feet into the air and spinning. Scientists believe they may do this to communicate, attract mates, or shake off parasites.

Shoutout to the mama turtles working hard to build their nests in the sand! Walking the beach at dawn, we’re always thrilled to spot their tracks—it’s like finding treasures from the night before. 😍🐢❤️

Sea turtles usually nest under the cover of darkness, protecting themselves and their precious eggs. Each morning, the local ‘turtle man’ (as we call him) patrols the beach, carefully relocating fresh nests to a sanctuary. This gives the eggs a much better chance of survival, safe from predators and harsh conditions.

After about 45-70 days, hundreds of tiny hatchlings emerge, instinctively making their way to the sea. It’s pure magic! ✨

Fun fact: Only female sea turtles return to land to lay eggs. Male turtles? They spend their entire lives at sea. 🌊💙

Our very first time at Balandra! Rated Mexico’s most beautiful beach and generally a line of cars waiting to enter the parking lot.

Every time we’ve been in La Paz these past two years we said we were only going to go once we had a boat. And now we do!! Reason number 276 we LOVE our

This was taken about 3 weeks ago and we weren’t even at Playa Tecolote 24 hours before cruising over. There are more videos of Balandra in our stories for those who are interested. We’re clearly stoked!

To say our trukit boat has been a game changer in Baja California this year would be an understatement. We feel like we’ve upped our adventure game at least 4 levels. There’s nothing like being able to get out on the water and explore islands/empty white sand beaches and fish (of course).

For those who follow along on YouTube, we’ve admittedly struggled to film this trip. We’re still very much grieving the sudden loss of my brother and taking it day by day. We’ve discovered that forcing anything right now is just not for us.

So we’ve switched gears a little bit. Letting ourselves be however we need to be each day without forcing the fun. Taking this time to be as present as possible, to play in the sun and swim in the water — processing each day and allowing ourselves to feel the sheer joy of just being here without the pressure to film.

This year is about tending to our hearts, processing and hopefully healing some. And if Baja Sur isn’t the place to do it, then we’re at a loss. Thanks to all those who continue to support us on journey. We really do love the online community we’ve slowly gathered and plan to start filming again when it feels right. ❤️
