This day will forever go down as the day I swam with hundreds of mobula rays!!!
For about three days, large schools of mobulas were moving up the coast. We woke up to rays jumping near the shore, circling the bay, and heard them leaping into the night.
When you see this many jumping out of the water, it means there’s a massive school underneath—a sight I’ve always dreamed of witnessing. Jimmy scooted me closer, and without hesitation, I jumped in with my snorkel and fins.
And WOW, it was absolutely breathtaking! ✨
Fun fact: Mobula rays are famous for their spectacular acrobatics, often leaping several feet into the air and spinning. Scientists believe they may do this to communicate, attract mates, or shake off parasites.
