The 2026 salmon run brought epic sights and more grizzly bears than we could count, what a wild, jaw-dropping experience!🤪🤘🏼

Hyder, Alaska is a tiny off-grid community known as the “friendliest ghost town in Alaska”.

Cut off from the rest of the state by massive mountains, it is physically accessible by road only through British Columbia, Canada. You cannot drive to Hyder from any other part of Alaska, the only road in leads from Stewart, British Columbia.(See 2nd pic for details)

As of that, Hyder relies on British Columbia for its electricity, telephone area code and schooling for local children.

While officially in the Alaska time zone, most residents and businesses operate on Pacific Time to match neighboring Canada.

Another fun fact, Hyder is much closer to Washington state and mainland Canada than it is to major Alaskan cities like Anchorage.

The Cassiar Highway is already proving its wildlife magic, we just got lucky and spotted this incredible black bear today!🤩

Back in Whitehorse and we are camping by the nearby dam.

We just took the dogs for a quick leg-stretch on the trails, only for the pups to lock eyes with a black bear from a save distance.😲

On the walk back, a majestic bald eagle crossed our path and we wrapped it all up watching a waterplane, Yukon magic at its finest.🙌🏼
