Sometimes, a dental tourism story is about much more than teeth. đŠ·â€ïž
I recently came across the story of a woman who visited a U.S. Dentist with her husband because she wanted something many of us take for granted:
To smile without feeling self-conscious.
Her story began years ago, when she was a child growing up in Honduras.
Her family didnât have much money. At one point, her parents rented a room in their home to a man who eventually couldnât afford to pay the rent.
Instead, he offered to âfixâ her teeth.
He wasnât a licensed dentist.
He removed her two upper front teeth and then told her that he could remove the two teeth next to them as well so she would âlook prettier.â
He did.
And from that moment forward, she lived with a partial denture.
Years passed.
Then came the decision to finally do something about the smile she had been carrying with her for so long.
And this is the part of dental tourism that doesnât always show up in an advertisement.

We meet people.
