Assembled by Thomas M. Cranfill the General Motors of Mexico Collection was the subject of two special issues of the The Texas Quarterly, published by the University of Texas at Austin.

"In these pages appear some of the great names of the past, Jose Guadalupe Posada, Julio Ruelas, and Francisco Goitia. To the big three, Orozco, Rivera and Siqueiros, a fourth, Tamayo, was added. As are works by other whose art is cherished the world over; Mérida, Kahlo, Gerszo, Federico Cantú, Ricardo Martinez, Carrington, Climent, Goeritz, Cuevas, Guerrero Galván, and Rodriguez Luna to name a few."
"Though each reader should be allowed to discover his own favorites among the youngsters we might report that the discriminating in Mexico admire especially the works of Francisco Toledo, Melecio Galván, Mario Rangel, and Edmundo Calderón."
