#70 Bridges, Not Walls: Dispatches from the Progressive International's 2nd Annual Panamerican Congress in Mexico City

Bring it! On this episode of Soberanía – with a brand-spanking-new intro and outro – Kurt and José Luis break down their experience at the second Panamerican Congress held in Mexico City. Is there any way for the peoples of the Americas to truly understand each other?

Song of the Stubborn One Thousand

President Ronald Reagan in the 1980s ushered in a frontal attack on labor. It was an era of outright union busting and lost strikes. But the story of the one thousand mainly Mexicana workers of Watsonville Canning, the largest plant in what was then the “frozen food capital of the world,” had a surprisingly different ending.

An interview with Peter Shapiro on the Watsonville Canning Strike of 1985-87.

US Used Zyklon B on Mexicans

Before the N***s used Zyklon B in the Holocaust, the US Public Health service used the poisonous gas in a "de-lousing" station on over 100,000 Mexicans crossing from Juárez to El Paso, Texas.

"The use of Zyklon B on the U.S.-Mexican border was a matter of keen interest to the firm of DEGESCH. In 1938, Dr. Gerhard Peters called for its use in German Desinfektionskammern. Romo has tracked down an article Peters wrote in a German pest science journal, Anzeiger für Schädlingskunde, which featured two photographs of El Paso delousing chambers. Peters went on to become the managing director of DEGESCH, which handled the supply of Zyklon B for the N**i death camps. He was tried and convicted at Nuremberg. Hilberg reports that he got five years, then won a retrial that netted him six years. He was re-tried in 1955 and found not guilty."

Asymmetric Dependence, the New Economic Order

Mexico ceased to be energy sovereign in 2014, but rebuilding state-owned enterprises gives it the flexibility to avoid Trump using energy as a weapon to extract concessions. Europe is too far gone.
