PK is a satirical science-fiction comedy-drama from India that critiques organized religion, blind faith, and social norms through humor and absurd situations.
The story follows PK, an alien who lands on Earth in India to study human behavior. Soon after arriving, the remote control device that can call his spaceship home is stolen, leaving him stranded.
Because PK has no understanding of human customs, religion, money, or social rules, he begins asking very literal and innocent questions about everything he sees. His strange behavior gets him labeled “PK,” which in Hindi slang means drunk or crazy.
While trying to retrieve his stolen device, PK discovers that many people tell him to “ask God for help.” This leads him to explore different religions and religious practices across India. As he investigates, he notices contradictions, exploitation by fake spiritual leaders, and the confusion created by competing beliefs.
Through PK’s innocent questions, the film humorously highlights how fear, tradition, and authority can shape religious belief.
The movie doesn’t attack faith itself. Instead, it questions blind obedience and exploitation in the name of religion, encouraging people to think critically about what they believe.
