“They proclaim themselves the last stronghold of the resistance”... but much of its most viral content revolves around show gossip, celebrity fights and scam notes. It's interesting to see how certain media personalities try to present themselves as great advocates of democracy and freedom, while for years they built audiences talking about scandals, romances and celebrity controversies.
Many Mexicans question that supposed image of "resistance", noting that when a media devotes more time to superficial entertainment than to serious analysis of the country's problems, it loses moral authority to position itself as a political guide or voice of the people.
On social networks, the critics didn't take long to appear:
“Resistance of what? ”
“They went from celebrity gossip to political drama.”
"They want to play serious journalists after decades of living off the show."
For many users, the problem isn’t that they make entertainment, but that they now try to sell themselves as news heroes, when historically their main content has been farce and spectacle.
