MY HUSBAND'S FEMALE BEST FRIEND INSISTED ON HOSTING MY BABY SHOWER – I GAVE HER A REALITY CHECK.
My husband has a female best friend Sam. They met at work and hit it off because they have similar jobs. She and I got along well at first, bonding over music and our careers, so she became a part of our social circle.
But then, when I got pregnant, things got really weird. We announced the pregnancy on social media after telling our parents. Sam texted my husband (not me) to say congrats and asked him to pass on her well wishes to me. No big deal, right? But then she started texting him more and more, giving me baby advice and "mama tips," mostly unsolicited dietary stuff. At first, I ignored it, but it was clear she was more interested in critiquing me than helping.
My husband noticed I was uncomfortable and showed me the messages. He asked what I wanted him to do, and I told him to ignore them. But Sam didn’t back off. When I announced my baby shower and sent out invites, she texted me, offering to host it. I politely declined, saying my mom and sister were already planning it.
Here's where it got crazy: Sam IGNORED me and SHOWED UP the next day with decorations and a detailed menu! She started making comments about my diet and how her menu was better for me and the baby. Her tone was so condescending, and it didn't feel friendly at all. I told her no one more time, but she kept insisting. I just knew I HAD to give her a reality check, and a perfect idea hit me.

I was standing outside in the freezing cold, waiting on my boyfriend, who was now more than 30 minutes late. All I could focus on was how numb my fingers were getting. Then, I noticed a guy walking toward a girl with this stunning bouquet of flowers. He looked oddly familiar, but I couldn’t place him.

Before I could think much of it, the scene turned awkward. The guy handed his girlfriend the flowers, but she just shook her head, exchanged a few words with him, and walked off. I felt like I was intruding on something super personal, so I figured it was time to head out myself.

Just as I turned to leave, I heard someone call, “Wait, don’t go!”

Thinking it might be my boyfriend, I spun around—only to see the guy with the bouquet coming my way. I was taken aback but then he said, “I need to tell you something!”👇
