In 2021, an average of 80.5 women were murdered in Mexico, simply because of their gender. 966 women were murdered in 2021, and despite protests that have exploded across Mexico, protests populated by women, young and old, screaming about this atrocity, the numbers only climb, and little progress is actually being made. But you can help change that, help get the word out to the world.

In collaboration with Victoria, the founder of Ballet Joven CDMX, I am filming a short documentary on this issue, and the choreography that Victoria created in order to get the message out to the world through a ballet performance. Art is a vessel that can effect change, where other methods have come up short.

I’ve already covered my expenses for the time I’ll be down there filming, but the grants I’ve applied for in order to edit the film, do sound, and other post-production work, we’re not approved. So I need to turn to you, and ask if you can help us get this message out.

Even just a $1 contribution will help get us closer to the goal, we need to get this film out to festivals as soon as possible, and with your help, we’ll accomplish that. Filmed more today with Luchador El Rayo Del Bajío and his wife Yoli, at their Lucha Libre themed restaurant, which serves delicious, and HUGE Huaraches! This amazing couple provide lucha libre classes to young people for free, as a way to keep them off the street, out of trouble, and in shape. While El Rayo provides the training and coaching in the ring, Yoli is the counselor, 2nd mother, and rudder for the boys. Together, they are doing amazing work, that might be at risk of being lost! Keep an eye out for our short piece on them, and if you’re in Mexico City, go support their restaurant, !

Long, but outstanding, day of filming, which was made better bu these AMAZING folks! So grateful that we get to tell Victoria’s story, that I have an awesome production assistant like Saraí, who definitely has worked super-hard, and for the opportunity to not just meet and interview the super-talented and award-winning Mexican ballet dancer, Robert Barqui. Just wish my production partner Dan was here, so that he could experience all this, but also so he could help us carry all this gear! 😂😂😂
